    Default PCOS help and information

    Hi Everyone,

Its been two years since i was diagnosed with PCOS, since then i have been numerous GPs and specialists, and taken more drugs than i know what to do with.

I have gained around 20 kg in the past 24 months and no matter what i do i cant seem to loose it. i jave tried so many diets and pills but nothing seems to work.

ITs been over 6 months since i last had a period and im a walking timebomb at the moment, not only dose PCOS affect me physically and mentally, but also my realtionship with my fiance and my work, in 2004 i was absent from work for over 30 dyas due to the pain i get and the lack of evergy, that just seems to be getting worse.

my partner and i have been trying to concieve for the past few months but not much is happening down there.

I was after whatever information and help ie.. pain remedies and getting pregnant tips!!!! that i can get from other sufferers out there.

    Cheers

    Haylee

    Hi Haylee,
First off, welcome to BellyBelly. The girls here are fantastic and the info you can get from others experiences has been great. I am really sorry to hear of the problems you've had with PCOS. Everything you have been goin through is not good. Can i ask if you are seeing a specialist in regards to your PCOS? Because i think maybe if you can get some support like that it might be good.
I was diagnosed with PCOS 7 years ago, and had been prescribed the pill for about 5 and a half years. I stopped taking it in June 2003. All this time though i would see my specialist in Melbourne, and when i was ready to start trying to have a baby in 2003, i approached her and asked for her help. So far, I have been on Metformin for 14 months, which hasn't done a whole lot for me (but it has helped heaps of women to lose weight and fall pg). I have been on Clomid to help me ovulate since June 2004, first on a 50mg dose, now 100mg dose. Has helped me ovulate, which is fantastic, and now i am just waiting for that BFP.
It isn't an easy road, especially if you are an emotional person like me, but sites like this really help, cos they let you know you are not the only one going through this.
Best of luck to you, and i hopeto talk to you some more,

    Cat

Hello and welcome to Belly Belly!!

I was in a very similar position to you prior to having Ryley my DS. I had gained 30 kgs in total and i developed an eating disorder which made me not only lose weight but get sick. Then I realised that maybe I am supposed to just be big and started loving myself even though I have PCOS. All the docs that i had seen told me not to worry i would never fall preg because of pcos and my weight. So until my chiropractor sent me to my current doctor i was told there was no chance. I lost 5 kilos through lots of hard work and went on metformin and i fell preg.
But besides the PCOS stuff things i did to help fall preg was- I got a bit tipsy (okay a lot tipsy) which helped me relax and my body to relax- also after the deed was done I put my legs up in the air for about literally five minutes. I dont know if either of there helpes but hey I have a beautiful son now

I wish you all the best of luck and if you have any more questions or feel like it is too much please email me or chat on here.

    Take Care

    Hi Haylee

I have PCOS and was only diagnosed this year after my sister was diagnosed.I was TTC for 8 months with AF getting further and further apart. The worst I had was no AF for 3 months but before that AF came every 2 months so my condition was gradually getting worse.Have you been for any tests?Have they tested your thyroid, progesterone and steriod levels? They did all of this for me but my gyno was very thorough. My weight is also not where I would like it to be, I'm not overweight but I have extra weight around my middle that I can't loose no matter what I do or eat which is a dead giveaway of PCOS.I have only just recently found out that I am pregnant!!!!My gyno put me on clomid 50mg for 5 days while you have AF.I only had 2 cycles of this and it has seemed to do the trick! Before I was on clomid I wasn't O"D and my progesterone level was only 4, where as on clomid it was 32/33.(you need it to be at 20 to ovulate)I hope this helps if you have any more questions no matter how private that you need to ask, please ask anyway.

Don't give up.........................I understand how it feels as when I was diagnosed I stopped TTC for a couple of months to come to terms with it all.(information overload!!!)

Hi Shezabelle and welcome to Belly Belly!!

I didnt get a BFP until about 6-8 weeks- so dont give up hope just yet!!
    (BFP is big fat positive!)
I dont know much about Clomid only Metformin. So sorry cant help you with that. Maybe try to go to doctors next week and get a blood test done if still no AF.

I look forward to chatting with you in the future!!

    hi shezzabelle,
I had two unsuccessful cycles on Clomid 50mg , where i didn't ovulate at all after a first successful one . In the end, my dose was upped, and fingers crossed, it will keep working for me.

Clomid can work and then not - it happened to me. First cycle, blood test showed I o'd. OPK showed that I o'd on cycle 2. On cycle 3, I never got a positive OPK and my cycle was 36 days long. Instead of o'ing, I got a severe case of hives.

If you didn't get a bloodtest or do a OPK, then you may not have o'd, hence no BFP.

Pee -- when you said you didnt get a BFP until 6-8 weeks, did you do HPTs, and how early? Just wondering because I am on day 38 today, (so I guess I would be 3-4 weeks if I were pg) and have had two BFNs. Sorry about all the q's!
