Through tears, please give me hope

I recieved terrible news today and I havent stopped crying since hearing these words. I want to be a mummy. Thats all I have wanted in such a long time. I have planned my life around it. I am with children everyday, that is my career and my life. We have always planned to have children and finially made a decision to start TTC in July.

In preparation, I went off the pill in Dec. After having my last 2 AF that are painful and severe that I have to live of pain killers for days and sleep on the floor where everything is still.

I decided to go to the Docs for a chat, only to be told that I have very high chance of having endometriosis. With what I decibed to him of my history of menstrual cycles, it was a given to him. I am now booked into the Gyno to then go and have a Laparoscopy. He gave me all the info of what the best case to the worst case is.

All I can now think about is; I might not be able to have babies. Its killing me. I am heart broken.

Please...if anyone has any stories they wish to share or advice, that can help me PLEASE PLEASE share. I need hope...................................

Sorry I don't have much in the way of advice, but I couldn't read this and not post.
Massive hugs to you. I know the pain of wanting it so badly, and I really pray that you get your little baby, and soon!

The girls in here and other support forums will be able to give you lots of info and advice, but have faith in your body. This is not the end!!

A friend of mine with bad endo started trying really early cos she had been told her chances were reduced. They fell pregnant straight away and have the most adorable little boy about to turn one. My cousin had endo too and now has three little boys

I had severe endometriosis which was removed by laparoscopy and extremely blocked and damaged tubes. We required IVF to be able to conceive and it worked first time and our baby girl is 11 months old.

It's devastating to hear those words though, I can really empathise and know where you're coming from. Be kind to yourself and allow yourself to grieve, make sure you have good support around you.

It's horrible news but not the end of the line, it's reassuring to know that there are options after endo!!

    Huge hugs

My friend had severe endo - had a laparoscopy which they explained was a "clean out" and she was advised to ttc straight away as it would be her best chance before the endo possibly came back. She fell pregnant within a few months.......... I hope this gives you some more hope. Xx

Honey, don't despair - endo does not automatically mean you may not be able to conceive. It can, but not always. Your tubes may be totally unaffected and therefore you will have no issues conceiving. The lap is the best route to take, your doc will be able to clean out any endo and flush your tubes at the same time and at least you will know what is going on in there!
There IS still hope, don't despair!

first of all HUGE hugs to you! I know what it feels like as many of the girls on here do to be told "sorry you cant have children" but this is just wrong. I remember in 2004 being told this and just crying myself to sleep (I have PCOS) and thinking ill be alone an have this huge hole in my life. But really just get some advice, look on different forums and get as much info as you can.
Dont just settle for what a GP says and there are options for us all out there

Please dont give up hope on the advice of one doc. I have endo and had two laporoscopies to clear it before starting Ivf. My second full drug cycle I fell pg with my beautiful twin boys. I felt so blessed! Six months after my boys where born I was shocked to find out I was pg NATURALLY with another little miracle I am now 15 wks pg with another natural miracle so sometimes your body just needs a kick start! Don't give up hope endometriosis is not the end of your baby dreams. Xoxo

ah sweetie, I so know where you are coming from. I remember how difficult it is to hear that you may have issues having a baby. I was told 15 months ago that I had PCOS and it was devastating! During the ovarian drilling surgery the docs found a lot of endo and blocked tubes. When the doc rang me after the op and told me that it wasn't just PCOS but more serious than that I thought it was all over. DH and I had just got married and I thought he should leave as he deserved to be a father.

Anyway- long story short, we started IVF and fell pregnant straight away, first cycle. Our daughter is now 3 months old and the most gorgeous thing in the world. Please don't lose hope, there is always options. My best friend also had endo, after her lap, her gyno said it was the worst case he'd ever seen. She fell pregnant naturally after her lap and now has a 4 month old.

Hang in there babe, it's a hard road but there is light at the end!

Oh hun, I know how it feels to be told this. Please don't give up hope. I have had 2 laparoscopys to remove endo and I also have PCOS. The funny thing is, in the end it wasn't endo that made it hard to have kids it was the PCOS and all I needed was some fertility drugs called clomid to make me ovulate to fall pregnant!

I can give you hope - I am an EX sufferer of PCOS and endometriosis - and was told at just 21 that it was highly likely i'd need artificial assistance in conceiving. Thanks to a fantastic Naturopath, and some sacrifices and radical lifestyle changes on my part, I am now completely free of all my symptoms and went on to conceive 2healthy boys. I went around and around in circles within the mainstream medical system first - taking drugs, having repeated invasive surgical proceedures etc.
Natural Medicine helped me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hate to say it hon, but the pill has likely caused a great deal of these issues by suppressing your natural fertility rythyms, and you need to get quite strict and tough in your approach if you wish to beat the aftermath - but you can.

I suggest you contact ANTA (Australian Natural Medical Association) to find a Naturopath near you who specialises in Natural Fertility Management, and will be able to conduct an array of non-invasive tests to assess your toxicity, hormone and mineral levels etc. Then you need to follow all the dietary advice and take all the supplements, herbs and gross tasting stuff that is recommended for you. I also highly recommend the book The Natural Way to Better Babies; Preconceptual Care for Prospective Parents. A great read - so much info in there which explains the root causes of infertility and how to tackle it from the inside out.
Happy to help and give you hope- ask me anything.

I'd like to thank everyone for your stories and wll wishes. I am feeling a lot better today. I have spent the last few days crying but now have taken a small step forward to making plans on how to attack this!

I'd like to particuarly thank JellyBean. Your story confirmed my plans. I went to alternative medicine last year when I had Ross River. With some research (done by my husband, Supportive and Productive man!) I have booked with a friend who is a Natropath/herbalist and has treated woment with Endo before. I am just so glad to hear that someone has gone through this and has used alternative medicine to help. Im a bit upset that my old herbalist who specialised in chinese medicine and fertility moved to Sydney last year- I could have really used her skills right now! But lets see how it all goes!

    Thanks again to everyone!

Whilst I agree that Natural methods help, I have to say that each case is individual and not to disregard the opinion of your treating medical team. Natural methods do not make endo disappear so it might be worth getting your endo removed and then using the natural methods to assist with conception.

I had acupuncture for a year before I started my IVF, and then all the way through my IVF cycle and pregnancy and I feel that it helped tremendously - especially with my stress levels.
