I think the changes were gradual for us as well, but very obvious when dairy was reintroduced.
From my recollection the fussy feeding strategies included:
* making feed times positive
* show baby the bottle being made up so they can prepare themselves
* only invite the baby to drink 2-3 times and then put the bottle out of sight so they are clear that feed time is over, it's about reducing their stress
* the feed is the feed accept what they take and don't go back to try and feed more until the next feed time
* no matter how much baby drinks end the feed time in a positive way
* speak calmly to your baby and acknowledge their upset tummy when you talk to them during feeding
* if baby wants to roll the teat around in the mouth or play with the bottle, let them it's about familiarising themselves
* don't try and force more milk into baby, if they aren't drinking enough raise it with the professionals and let them manage that
* feeds can be stretched to 5 hours (I only stretch between 3-4 hours) to reduce the regular negative interactions and experiences with feeding
* wait until baby is clearly hungry before feeding, or a maximum of 5 hours between feeds
* raise concerns with milk volume intake with professionals and let them manage and assess if further intervention is required.
My memory is a bit hazy now but these are the main ones that I remember as they applied to my situation. Prior to these strategies I was probably in the pattern of offering feeds too regularly because my DS had a low volume
