Taking children to funerals remind people at the funeral that life goes on, that it is a cycle. We've always had kids at funerals, with one or two designated people to take them out if they start to get fussy - this is especially important if the parent is sitting in the family rows.
The choice lies with you, with what you feel your children would be able to cope with.
I never went to my dad's funeral and it has always felt like I never got to properly say goodbye to him.
