don't talk negatively about the thing your child desires, but you dislike
instead have postive discussions about that thing
but still don't buy the thing they want?

and what happens when "third parties" eg relatives, school friends, give bratz dolls to your child? what do you do then?

i'm so curious, all this is in front of me.

we have so few relatives (far away) and a very small IRL network, so bilby is not getting deluged with gifts each xmas, birthday (apart from the ones i buy her) - so i don't have to deal with it. but i'm assuming this will all change come school age.

i really am unsure how i will handle it. i have very strong views about "appropriate toys" too.
