    Sisters

How well do you get on with your sister(s)?

    Do you fight?

    Do are you great friends?

    Are you alike?

    Are you different?

Do you spend a lot of time together or apart??

My sister and I get along way better as adults than we did as kids. We don't figt much any more and now I do like to think of her as a friend. We are similar but still very different. I think we would spend a lot more time together if we lived closer together.

My sister is almost 2 years younger than me. She is very different to me in many ways (interest in clothes, going out and she is very confident and outgoing in her personality whilst I am a bit more reserved, more of a homebody and make less of an effort with my appearance, gee I sound a bit dowdy...lol).
We pretty much ignored each other or fought madly between the ages of 14-25 but she is now my best friend! We speak every day and catch up at least once a week. I would be lost without her.

    I have 2 younger sisters, A & B.
B & are are really alike in lots of ways including looks, she is 9 years younger than me but we have always been really close.
A & I never got along when we were growing up; A is 4 years younger than me... Our family moved 500kms away and we were left together when were 22 & 18 at the time so we started to get along. Then A decided she would move too. After that we got along really well. A missed me loads and ended up moving back down to where I was. Since then we have got on like nothing else.
I live half way between my sisters, A is in Sydney & B is on the Mid North Coast. I miss them both terribly but call them as often as possible. A is definitely the 'Mum' to all of us and I often call and ask her for advice... I called her lots when DS2 was born as there was heaps I'd forgotten in the 10 years since my previous child was born. Each of my sisters have children of their own now, and all our kids get along really well... our youngest ones are all very close in age.

My sister is 8 years older than me, we kind of ignored each other growing up, age difference was a bit too big then. But now we're really close, we're 1/2 exactly alike and 1/2 totally different. She's one of my best friends and I couldn't do without her, sometimes, I just want my sister

I have a twin sister (fraternal). We are VERY different. She is very career minded and money driven, and very well travelled. I am a home body and am very happy with my job as stay-at-home-mom. We have always been the best of friends though and are very close. We sadly live in different provinces but we talk on the phone almost every day.

My sister and I couldn't be more different. Growing up we had nothing in common and we fought a lot. It's only been the past 12 months or so (especially now that she's pregnant) that we can actually have a conversation with each other without it turning into a massive argument.
    She's 4 years older than I am.

My sister and I are 17 mths apart and we're very different from each other. As teenagers we hated each other but now we're best of friends. We talk on the phone or see each other every day. We spend heaps of time together, we do still fight on occasion but it's all sorted within minutes.

My sister and I are 2 1/2 yrs apart (I'm older) and totally chalk and cheese in looks and personalities. I'm more outgoing, speak my mind and tend not to worry too much about what people think of me. She's quiet, reserved and cares A LOT on appearances, not just looks, but behaviour as well, what people think of her (home, clothes, job, husband) is very important to her.

We fought like cat and dog growing up, became closer when she went travelling to the UK, and while she was away, but since she's been back (about 5yrs), it's gone back downhill again. We actually had a big falling out around her birthday in October (about how me and dh weren't invited to go out for dinner to celebrate her 30th because we have a son!?!?!), and have only spoken about 3 times since, once including Christmas!

This is going to sound horrible, but my life is a lot more relaxed without contact, I wish we were closer but I just don't understand her way of thinking, as much as I've tried, and she doesn't understand mine. She actually told me that if people can't conceive naturally then they're obviously not meant to be a mother!!!! This was while we were in the middle of fertility treatment.....YES.... she knew that's what we were doing!!!

Sorry, have turned this into a vent...... it's nice to get it out, I can't vent to my poor mum who feels caught in the middle.

Yeah my Sister and I are close, but not really as close as I'd like it to be....

I love her loads, there are 4 years between us, I am the eldest.

She is the tall slim gorgeous one and I'm the short porkier one! I am more outgoing and opinionated, and she is shy and quiet and doesn't really open up unless it's something she knows LOADS about. She is lazy....I am not (it's my biggest pet hate about her!)

All I want to do is protect my little sister. She isn't very open about things going on in her life so it leads to lots of assumptions and talking to her about anything is actually quite hard! I wish it wasn't.

We do get along well, and did growing up too....although we had our fights....I was just a 'mean' older sister...ya know!

We aren't spending as much time together now only because I'm overseas, but when I was at home, our lives were really quite seperate, apart from when it comes to our dogs! Ha! I actually got into the dog showing thing just so I could spend some more time with the "REAL" sis I know she can be.

    I miss her x

We are very different in looks and personality. We speak via msn and emails mainly and that is pretty regular but we've seen eachother 2 times in teh last 15 years! It's great for a few days but beyond that I don't like her company. We have very different views on the world and as a person I would not have anything to do with her if she weren't my sister. As kids we were not close either even though she is only 2 years older than me. I wish it were different as I'd love a really close sister. I was close to my brother all our lives until a couple of years ago... But that's another story

I have one sister. She's 2 years younger than me.

As children, we got on OK. She annoyed me a lot, but that's sisterhood!

As teenagers, she was (in her own words) a mega-bi7ch. I didn't like her. She was hell-bent on destroying herself and dragging as many of us down with her. I was so relieved when I finally moved out, age 19, and never looked back.

Now, we talk. I don't like her still. She drinks too much, is more concerned with friends than anything else, thinks I should bring DS up to visit her more often but only comes down once a year herself, encourages my child to hit people, buys him waaaay too many gifts and noisy ones at that... she's herself. And if she weren't my sister, I wouldn't even consider being friends with her.

We get on OK, but we really aren't bosom buddies. We look vaguely related, we're about the same height, she has more curves than me, she's a lot more fashion-aware. She looks like she makes an effort with her looks and she is pretty, whereas I look "natural" and DS was complimenting me on my looks last night. Mum always considered her the pretty one though, but we look a bit too different to compare really. Brown hair and eyes, but that's about it in common.

    I have 3 younger sisters, K, K and T.

K and I are 2.5 years apart and were best friends from the day she was born, did everything together. Then just recently she has become insanely jealous of me and treats me like a piece of you know what. I have tried and tried to calm her down and discuss things with her but she has been on the attack for a few weeks now and doesnt look like changing any time soon. No one has ever been any where near as nasty to me as she has recently

K and I are 8 years apart. We look alike. She is a very hard person to deal with. She is awesome in small doses, but is just one of those people who rubs you the wrong way somehow? She has had a rocky teenhood and is now a young mum, but a great mum We exercise every morning together and really enjoy each others support and company.

T is 10 years younger than me. We have always had more of a mother daughter relationship than a sister relationship though. Our parents divorced when she was 2 and I took a lot of responsibility for her, always babysitting her and stuff. I love her to bits, She still feels like a baby to me even though she is 17 years old! She still treats me like a mother figure as well. She looks nothing like the rest of us. We all have dark brown curly hair, she has straight mousey brown hair. We all have big boobs and curvy figures, she has no boobs and is stick thin. We are all lazy, she is a fitness freak. But yes, we all share the same father LOL

may i ask what inspired this thread?

    I have 2 younger sisters.

    R is 3 years younger and L is 16 years younger (!).

R and I were close in our early childhood/primary school years, which I guess is to be expected at that age, being a smallish gap - we played but fought a lot and were quite competetive. During teenage years we started drifting apart. We are very different, always have been and we were/are focused on different things. Looks-wise we are very different too! She is extremely hard to deal with - even in small doses. She has a mental health issue and we walk on eggshells around her. Like some other posters, if she weren't family, I'd have nothing to do with her. I don't mean that in a nasty way; but apart from her off-putting volatile attitude and personality, we are just very different people, nothing in common and at different stages in life.

L is my baby sister and we don't have a sisterly relationship at all. I am more of an auntie to her. She is only 4 years older than my DS so they get along like siblings more than we do. She is learning to read, write and spell at the moment and often makes me drawings or other crafty stuff

I'm sad that I don't have a close sibling. I also have 2 brothers, one who is 17 months older than me and has a mild intellectual disability but an awful attitude. It's not the disability that hinders our relationship, it's his attitude towards life and people (like woman should be in the kitchen, racist views, likes to binge drink, etc) and the other brother is 15 years younger than me so again, I'm like an auntie lol.

I have 4 siblings and none of them I can relate to!

I have 4 sisters, so things get interesting!

I think we all have a good relationship so long as everything is going well, but under stress we are likely to drift away or get into fights. I think its because we KNOW that we will forgive each other. We couldnt put a friend through some of the stuff we have each other trying to get our lives back on track and still have that friend - but we always still had sisters.

How well do you get on with your sister(s)? 1 sister (aussienic) we get along well now as kids we did fight a lot we are 21mths apart

Do you fight? as kids yep... occasionally now we have minor tiffs usually to do with mum

Do are you great friends? i'd say the older we have got the better we are

    Are you alike?

    Are you different?
now this is tricky we are very different but at same time very much alike Nic is probably a lot more easy going with life than me I am the stresser she is the dreamer (love ya nic) we do seem to have very similiar ideals when it comes to the kids but again we have some huge differences so not making any sense with this question

Do you spend a lot of time together or apart?? unfortuantly we dont see each other as much as we should we live 2hrs apart but I regularly visit the IL's who live 20min from Nic, but due to her not having a licence its very hard to catch up well it shouldn't be but it is... I have made a resolution this year to do more for me and my family in relation to visiting etc, so hopefully I will see more of nic and her beuatiful family........

    The reason I asked...
Is that my sister has been staying with me for the last week or so with her DH and her 6 month old son.

And I found an email from my other sister to this sister about how staying with me is crapo.. how i cannot parent my kids well,

how my husband is rude and doesnt keep promises bla bla bla.

This is all such nonsence.. I have never been so hurt in my life...
I confronted my sister who said she was really upset at the time and sorry she said the things she did...
She is ment to comeback tomorrow to my house to stay for 3 days before she flies back overseas to canada...

I will NOT have her in my home again.. and I am going to tell her she will have to find alternate acoomodation with friends in melbourne etc.

SOme of the things she wrote back and forth to my sister is just so so sad..
that my kids are little BRATS.. and that i am very insonsitant parenting etc.. just such rude hurtful things.

That i have no values.. bla bla bla..
I am 15 weeks pregnant on top of all this and i dont know how much more i can handle...
I will after this have NO sisters... that is waht makes me sad.
