Inanna ... we have some 'friends' who haven't talked to their kids, and asked us not to either as they prefer not to talk about "that kind of thing". This is THREE seperate couples who have actually said this to us over the course of 15 months. And couples who actually ask us not to act like a couple (now, PDA I understand to a point, but it goes much deeper than that since they don't ask straight couples not to act like a couple etc), and one who kept calling Shel "Aunty Shel" when referring to her relationship with Jazz, despite repeatedly saying "no, Shel is mummy"... I know, its not much, but its enough for us to wonder how many people just ignore the subject. Not many on BB I think but I couldn't help but ask.
I think its harder to see that there are people who don't talk about it, if you're a person who does talk about it with your kids. There ARE people who prefer not to have to face it. As much as we'd like to not be around them, its reality in our community, I just thought maybe this thread could reach some people who think it's 'too hard' and get them to think about it more.
ETA: oh yeah, and by talk I just meant 'mention in passing, like I said, not make it a big deal, but at least mention it as many just don't even acknowledge that sane-sex parented families exist, and thats disappointing and frustrating for me.
