Blood Pressure

Just wondering if my blood pressure is low or high? It ranges between 100-110 over 60-70. Is this high/low/normal? I'm nearly 21, 6ft tall and had a pre-preg weight of 64kgs and now nearly 80kgs if that's needed at all..

The nurses say it's fine but was told the top should be 100+ur age upto age 30, and bottom should be roughly 100-ur age upto 30 for it to fall into a "normal range" which would make me 120/80?

In pregnancy i was told the top number isnt one they worry about to much.. but the bottom number needs to be 80 or less to be considered ok and not *high*.

My last check up was 120/90 and dr was concerned cos i had high BP last time in the last 4 weeks and was nearly induced because of it..


In normal day life im not sure wats good or bad...?? LOL

i'm not much help with what the no's mean lol but it sounds fine to me. all the way through my 1st pg mine sat at 100-110 over 60-70 and didnt even go up during labor......i was told that this is on the lower side but not to worry its better than been on the high side. At my last check up mine was 90/50 and i keep feeling very faint!

Sounds fine to me. Mine was 110/120 over 60/70 but in the last few weeks has gone as high as 130/80 - my ob and midwife aren't concerned about it.

Back when I was measuring at 110/70 my midwife would always say "perfect".

Thank you all that's good to know. I was sort of worried it would be at the higher end as my grandmother had really high blod pressure and had a heart attack and 3 strokes before she died and I get a lot of chest pains at times (of no known physiological cause) so was hoping on a family history point of view it wasn't too bad..

When I went to the hospital bleeding at the end of August my blood pressure was 140/97 but she just kept me under observation for 3 hours to make sure Ryan was ok, and didn't want to wake the Dr so sent me home and said if I went into labor to come back. Just wasn't sure what constituted a risky pressure

The guideline for normal BP you was given is very old and no longer used.
Your BP is in the lower end of normal but it is still normal. You have nothing to worry about

Thanks for clearing that up Alan greatly appreciated :-). That's really strange I've had two nurses give me that guideline as a way of measuring BP, once after surgery in 2006 and again just recently. One was a young nurse as well... oh well as long as it's normal I'm happy

What can be considered a normal BP differs between different people. Lifestyle and activity levels have a part to play. On average and for the majority of people I would consider a BP 110 - 130 over 60 - 80 as normal For a reading outide these numbers I may consider acceptable for that individual person. I hope this makes sense to you.
