So glad I don't let me kids drink it. However I will reconsider if I should drink it.
Looks like utter poison - wonder if anyone have ever died after drinking it...lol
Thanks for bumping BathI have to confess that I occasionally have a small glass of Diet Coke, but not very often at all (usually with fish and chips, now there's a healthy combo!).
The real deal, Diet, Zero, whatever, it's all shocking stuff! And to drink it on a daily basis.........I can't imgagine what it's doing to your teeth!!!!!! (Sorry, I can't help myelf). Actually, I can imagine, because I see it in my work, more often than I would like. Do yourselves a favour......break the habit now! You'll thank us one day

I love lemon, lime & bitters too, but don't forget bitters is 49% alcohol?
Cant stand coke as it is sooooo sweet. But I love diet coke.
I know diet coke is very bad as well (but for different reasons to coke). I think the main reason coke is so bad is not because of the cafeine but because of the extremely high amount of sugar and the effects that has on your body (like weight gain, rottign teeth, diabetes)
Like some dentists on here have said...We were never allowed any softdrinks or full strength juice as kids so we all have pretty good teeth. My sisters and I have never had a filling (so my mum is very proud). I can remember occasially having a flavoured mineral water at christmas or birthdays and we never felt like we were missing out.
Very interesting thread. I think it all comes down to moderation.
Another interesting fact is Coke-a-cola used to have cocaine in it when it first came out.
Pretty butterfly- bitters is 49% alcohol but becaue there is only a few drops in a pre-made lemon lime and bitters you can buy it from a supermarket.
Yeah it's usually what I drink If I'm designated driver but I think most people don't realise it's 49% alcohol. But you're right if it's only a few drops hopefully it won't be picked up in a breath test. Can you imagine, "please Mr Officer I swear all I had was 12 lemon, lime and Bitters ??"![]()
Thanks for the info, I actually already knew this but continued to drink it lol. However when I have my nieces around or friends kids I dont drink coke in front of them and as far as they are concerned its not in our house. Little do they know lol. I am getting better though and have switched to coke zero![]()
Interesting story -
I have a GF that is a midwife, she told me a story once about a woman she assisted giving birth to.
When they were filling out the questionaire when she came into emergency (she was from out of town) she filled in the usual questions, and there was the part at the end that mentioned 'anything else we should know?'
She said to my friend that she wasn't sure if it was relevant, but she drinks approx 4L coke per day.. and has done for as long as she could remember (think she was in her 30's)
To cut a long story short, she ended up birthing her baby, was an average size baby (not her first) - relatively straight forward, no complications... EXCEPT when she was pushing her baby out, her pevis absolutely shattered
My GF said she has never seen anyone in so much pain in her life.
She ended up giving birth, no issues with the baby, but had to get her body set from her pelvis shattering, so she was in hospital for ages after having her baby.
Apparently the Drs etc did all kinds of tests in regards to it shattering... they said that her bones had just rotted & deteriorated over time - more than likely to the sugar, etc from the amount of coke (and perhaps poor diet otherwise) she had been drinking on a daily basis for such a long period of time
I realise this is fairly unbelievable, but still ... OMG!!!
Geeze... but it doesn't surprise me... 4L is a massive ammount... especially when you consider that you should replace every glass of coke with a glass of water to neutralise the de-hydrating effects of it. I assume she wasn't drinking 4L of water each day. How horrific!
A friend who I work with does very heavy labour work (shovelling etc) and drinks nothing but coke and iced coffee. I saw him with a water bottle once and thought he must be sick! He always has them side by side when he is working - 2L of each. Cuckoo!
I was googling Diet coke tonight and came across this !!!

Even a addict like me can see the wool being pulled over my eyes lol
Hmmm... yes, I'm sure there will be TOKEN ammounts of "vitamin and mineral supplements" in that product... what a crock.
Met a couple today that used to be huge coke addicts... they've given it up because both have serious health issues... not sure whether it's helping their conditions but they have lost a significant amount of weight! They are also new parents... and I suspect they have found their sleep (when they are getting some) isn't as disrupted by the caffeine as well. They say they haven't been dieting... just ban coke from their fridge.
My FIL is a limo driver and had a bottle of lemon, lime and bitters that he bought from a servo which he was drinking as he drove back froma job. Got pulled over, RBT'ed and blew .06. When he said all he'd been drinking was the l,l&b, they made him wait 20 mins and blow again.. and it was down to .01. So it will leave a mouth-alcohol reading, if not a blood one.
And on the actual subject of the threadI am a bad coke addict
But inly for Macca's coke (and only in a medium cup), or from a glass bottle. i have one a day, every day (but follow it up with heaps of water).
Bumping this again... seems every second person I meet these days is a closet coke drinker... talk about being on a mission! LOL I know there are seemingly "worse" addictions... but daily cola consumption really is insidious...not judging though!!!

My acupuncturist has banned me from having it, and says that in 10 years Coke will be subjected to the same type of scrutiny that tobacco companies are, ie - age limits, lawsuits etc.
Interesting thought!
Yep, I tend to agree (with the scrutiny)!
i am soi glad i stopped drinking the stuff years ago
