    Hi Dusty,

Not sure if your is for weight loss or other reasons but, a gf of mine followed the Body Trim eating plan. It is a bit expensive to buy (I think approx. $150) but it gives you an outline of how to eat a low-carb diet for life. (she lost 5/6 kilos on it and is now on maintenance)

From memory you do a 3 day ONLY PROTEIN diet (no fruit, veg, bread, pasta etc... This is to deplete your body of carbs, cravings for carbs, regulate your insulin and various other reasons I can't remember. Then on day 4 you go onto a low-carb diet until you reach your goal weight etc.... You can only eat carbs before lunch time and only with a protein. ie: egg & 1 piece of multi-grain toast for breakfast. Their meal suggestion is something like this:
    Breakfast - 1 Protein serving + 1 fruit or 1 Starch (ie: bread) - Can't be both
    Snack - 1 Protein serving
    Lunch - 1 Protein serving + unlimited Salad/Vegies
    Snack - 1 Protein serving + unlimited Salad/Vegies
    Dinner - 1 Protein serving + Unlimited Salad/Vegies
    Snack - 1 Protein

Protein suggestions are: meat (beef, chicken, turkey), eggs, fish, shellfish, (for vegetarians) tofu, lentils, chickpeas, dried beans, vegie sausages etc...

Can't remember the maintenance part (sorry)

They have a web-site address too, just Google 'Body Trim'

Not sure if this is what you are after?

Thanks Rainforest - tomatoes for brekkie is a great idea! I am supposed to be eating eggs every day ATM so that could work too Sush.

Julia it is not for weight loss reasons but I could loose some TTC weight for sure. I figure a healthy diet and exercise will gradually help with WL. Will google your suggestion - thanks.

Amy I tend to eat full fat yoghurt cause it is yummy and diet ones are too sweet for me. I don't think there is much difference in the calories either. But I couldn't do without yoghurt no matter what

After being a vego for 10 years experimenting with more protein in my diet is something quite new LOL.

I figure brown rice is probably better than white too but I guess that is to ensure better fibre.

    Hey Dusty,

If you want to keep some carbs in your diet - one of the best for your blood sugar is to keep the old museli in...but I mean the raw one, not the yummy, crunchy toasted delish one.
I make my own with oats (must be rolled), oat bran, pepitas, sunflower seeds, chopped up dried fruit - maybe apricots and peaches, a little shredded coconut and lots of sultanas.
It is a low GI (so great for keeping your blood sugar steady and keeping u fuller for longer) healthy, filling breakfast.
Rather then cut out carbs - you should check out some of the low GI sites. The is now probably the most recommended way to eat because it keeps your sugars on an even flow all day..

    Hey Lulu
Thanks for that. I do love my muesli in the mornings and have an excellent one buy. I need to check out what the deal is with low GI. I think I already have a fairly low GI diet (except for those chocolate fixes every gal needs from time to time) but I think I need to be more aware of what I am eating.

Hmmm maybe I should come by and pick up some of yours to try! Sounds delish.
    xx
