i think you can drink too much if you over saturate your body with heaps of water all at once (like when someone who has been on ecstacy has their friends pumping water into them too quickly)

i think as long as you're peeing enough to compensate the volume of water you drink, you should be fine (and thankfully once you're used to drinking heaps, you don't need to pee every five minutes!)

Yes, you can drink too much water. Its not usually how much though, but how fast...

Drinking too much water can lead to a condition known as water intoxication and to a related problem resulting from the dilution of sodium in the body, hyponatremia....You are unlikely to suffer from water intoxication, even if you drink a lot of water, as long as you drink over time as opposed to intaking an enormous volume at one time. As a general guideline, most adults need about three quarts of fluid each day. Much of that water comes from food, so 8-12 eight ounce glasses a day is a common recommended intake. You may need more water if the weather is very warm or very dry, if you are exercising, or if you are taking certain medications.

I think I'm up to about 2.5L today.
Big step up from the .5L or less thats been me since I stopped b/fing Milo, so over 12 months. No wonder I wasn't losing weight.

I wouldn't go over 3L per day ladies, I've heard it can be bad for you.

And if you work out 3L over 12 hours its about 250mL per hour I think I'll join you next week, once I get my brita water bottle (I'm due for a new one).

    *hugs*
