I get that Rouge. I think it's sweet that people do things. I suppose I rebel against the idea of there being an official day, like someone's telling me what to do. It's just not for us.

We do make an effort trying to find the perfect card, though. So far, I'm winning

Kazzo - liking the idea of cheap flowers the next day too. We grow our own roses but I'm sure I could find something else.

DH has worked every V Day that I've known him so we don't really DO anything on the day, we don't buy each other cards and presents, but I'll probably go and have dinner with him at work. I'm not really fussed about it all.

I never really cared much for it and DH hasn't either.

Could have a lot to do with that it always seems to fall on or around the Southern 80 boat race in Echuca that he has gone to watch for as long as i've known him.

I'm not a fan, but DH and I got together a few days after V Day. A bunch of friends were talking about it and I said I never got a Valentines. DH said the same thing. I gave him a hug and said "Happy V's J!" And he replied with "You're a bit late...."
It was hilarious. Last year he got a me an 'apology V Day card". I doubt we'll do anything this year.

No, we don't really do anything either. I might buy DH some nice dark choccies (or vice versa) but there is no expectation from either of us.

We might have a special one this year- it is my EDD!

We don't celebrate Valentines Day, I don't feel the need to feed into that commercial crap! We usually do something nice for our wedding anniversary

Actually Valentine's Day was around long before it became 'commercial', as was Christmas, which is also very commercial now. I like to think I buy into the sentiment of both things, not the commercial 'crap'. Just saying.

I don't succumb to the commercialism of it, and neither does DP, but I try to do something that is a little bit soppy, but fun at the same time. Last year I made individual chicken and vegetable pies for dinner, and cut all the veges (spinach, carrot, onion, red capsicum, yellow capsicum) with a tiny heart shaped cookie-cutter, and served them up as 'love pies.' I haven't decided what I'll do this year, but it'll be along the same lines.

Buying the cheap flowers the next day is a great idea! I love having fresh flowers in the house!

we usually get each other a card...although one of us may forget. i think last year i ordered some v's day biscuits from starrysky but i think that's the first time either of us has bought the other anything we're not really into it - early on we would buy each other an anti-valentine's day card. just doesn't do it for me.

we normally dont (ie every year for the last 10ish years). maybe a wee card, or a chocolate bar while watching telly

BUT this year, being in the US of A we feel we should embrace it a bit more this year...and in a similar fashion to you and DH we will go extra soppy and kitschy lol. i look forward to it with glee!

It is our first Valentine's Day (yes, we will have a one month old, feel free to do the math lol) and I know DP has something planned, he isn't the king of subtle plus you know, I'm super cluey clever haha. I'm getting him a little jokey meaningful kind of gift and keep teasing it might be the night he gets relucky haha as we have been both dying to be intimate but I'm a medically paranoid kind of girl so we have been waiting a magical undetermined amount of time for my crazy peace of mind. Very difficult as we didn't miss a day the whole pregnancy minus the last two weeks because I didn't want to kick off anything over Christmas, New Year and my birthday (5th) lol. Anyway, getting off topic but yes, I will be asking DP to be my Valentine even if we celebrate our love everyday! Today I texted him the quote "You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams." ~ Dr. Seuss because last night we had to tag team with the girls til 9:30pm and after, even though we were both exhausted we couldn't fall asleep as we didn't want to miss 'our time' for the night so stayed up another hour just chatting and cuddling before sleep hehe. I also love the togetherness of it all and will be watching all the couples from my balcony if I get the chance, melts my heart seeing love in action or hearing others tales of it. I'm that weirdo glancing around at restaurants and movies inventing stories about the people I see, guessing how many dates they've had, where they met etc haha.

Kind of. Our past dates have included:
Cinnamon donuts, eaten sitting on the kerb (morning tea)
Shopadocket pancakes at a dodgy cafe
Tropical fruit picnic in a park
    Takeaway pizza
    Nothing
Heart shaped croutons in homemade soup
Went away for a romantic weekend (with the baby)

We never buy cards or presents or anything, but this year, a friend is hosting a girls only card making day, so we're getting together to drink bubbly and eat nibblies and do craft.

Nope we don't. Not even a card, nothing really other than saying - oh it's Valentines Day did you have a nice day!
