Nup... Not interested! We did do cards initially when we first dated but got over it quite quickly. It's not for us. I'm currently praying our stubborn little bub who is due tomorrow but hasn't engaged yet will not come on the 14th! Any other day is fine, but what a sucky birthday that would be!

I'm so doing Valentine's Day this year. I never did with XH because our anniversary was two days later, so it was easier to just say 'let's celebrate then'. Then pretty soon, we weren't even celebrating that.

So now I intend to use whatever events, occasions, anniversaries, birthdays I can to show my DP that I love him, over and above how I show him that I love him everyday. He is super excited about Valentine's Day, which is way cute. So bring on the commercialism, the craziness and everything!

Nah, not into that! We're lucky to remember our anniversary most of the time. But thats ok, neither of us have left yet, so we must love each other, even if we don't often show it.

Nope we don't do Valentines day here. Not sure why but we just don't. I might actually do it this year to show some love.

We don't do Valentines Day. I don’t know why, it’s just not for us.

We don't celebrate Valentines Day, I don't feel the need to feed into that commercial crap! We usually do something nice for our wedding anniversary

Actually Valentine's Day was around long before it became 'commercial', as was Christmas, which is also very commercial now. I like to think I buy into the sentiment of both things, not the commercial 'crap'. Just saying.

I don't succumb to the commercialism of it, and neither does DP, but I try to do something that is a little bit soppy, but fun at the same time. Last year I made individual chicken and vegetable pies for dinner, and cut all the veges (spinach, carrot, onion, red capsicum, yellow capsicum) with a tiny heart shaped cookie-cutter, and served them up as 'love pies.' I haven't decided what I'll do this year, but it'll be along the same lines.

Buying the cheap flowers the next day is a great idea! I love having fresh flowers in the house!

we usually get each other a card...although one of us may forget. i think last year i ordered some v's day biscuits from starrysky but i think that's the first time either of us has bought the other anything we're not really into it - early on we would buy each other an anti-valentine's day card. just doesn't do it for me.

Not really here either. It's my bday the day before so I'd rather we made a big deal out of that! I might get him a card, but that's it.

No. And until we have a singles day where people get to celebrate being awesome and single I won't. I just can't bring myself to buy into all the nonsense about needing a soulmate/partner to complete us. Not that it's not nice to have a lover/partner but I would be just as complete without one.

We don't. Well, i think we did the first year we were dating, but then not after that. Then we got married a week before V day, so we celebrate that. We're a bit scroogie - i'm pretty sure that is the root of our indifference!

I like that other people do it though. I love seeing all the lovey-ness. It rubs off

We have never done cards. I don't do cards for birthdays or Christmas either as a general rule. However when we were first together DH and I would exchange gifts for valentinesz day. The first year I got a dozen red roses. The following year I got 6. The year after I got 1...and that was the end of that . Sometimes we watch a movie or something together but we can never get a babysitter so we don't go out to celebrate. Like Lionsandbears we tell each other that we love each other all the time so I don't really get the hype of valentines day.

Lol Onyx, the first thought I had when I read your post was this:

I celebrate Valentine's Day to show I love him
But I celebrated every freakin' day when I was single!

I get your point though. I thought being single was awesome, so much so I find it hard to let go of sometimes! So maybe that's why I don't see Valentine's subtext as saying that being coupled is better than being single. But I can see how many others would.
