I bought myself earrings today so I'll get DH to give them to me. I bought him an oven mitt for his love of his life Weber Q (for $1.75), possibly not fair, but there it is.

    Love your valentines day Ubba!

We are staying home and having a nice meal - going to cook a rack of lamb (yuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum) and for dessert I'm making some fancy icecream with roasted macadamias and caramel sauce (i.e. let bought icecream soften, mix in aforementioned ingredients, freeze again then serve!).

Present-wise - I got some sentimental photo's of DH's framed, that he's been wanting done for ages (just inexpensive frames from BigW) and I bought him some stick-on hooks so he can put them up where he wants them (well I will give him two options in the house and he can choose, heh heh heh).

Hope all you ladies have a wonderful day no matter what you are doing! xxx

I was hoping to get some ideas but most people don't seem to like V Day!

Both myself and dh ate working but was hoping to do something special still that night!

I don't want to go out for dinner as everywhere does the same set menu's which are boring....

Any suggestions for small things I can do to make the day special ate greatly appreciated!

I don't like the fuss of it, but we make a point of doing something a bit out of the ordinary together. We're doing it tomorrow night, I've got some seafood and making spaghetti marinara and a prawn and mango salad, and I got some cake from a cafe (needing all my willpower not to eat it tonight!) I can't decide if I put it out with some candles on the table, or once DD is in bed, put a picnic rug on the floor of the lounge and have an indoor picnic. I don't go for the whole present thing, although DH has been known too. I like the idea of having a day where you remember each other, where normal life doesn't get in the way, no bill talk, no worries, etc, just me and him and us together.

Since I'm away from the person in my life, I'm catching up with an old friend who is divorced, we're catching up for a drink and then I'm taking him out to dinner, he knows about the drink, but doesn't know about the dinner, going to spoil him because he is in a pretty bad place after his divorce.

    LOL grub!

I might make the effort to cook a good old home cooked meal Rather than my diet of pies and sausage rolls

If Im not too tired we might have some nookie time too!

DF might have flowers sent, but it doesnt bother me if he doesnt, I know he loves me, we dont need a particular day to show each other. Last year we agreed not to buy anything, I'd just cook a meal - and he arranges flowers tobe sent! What the!! I felt so bad!!

OP - Perhaps just cook a nice meal and enjoy each others company. I hate going out on VD - so many cheesy people kissing and smooching (*vomit*) Cant stand romantic cheesy crap anyways!

But in saying that I will be playing touch football and DH will be sleeping Not reallly what I had in mind for our 10 year anniversary of our first date

PakRak - I love the seafood idea. Might start with that! We do a similar thing to yourselves, we just like to do something a little special to remember why we're together and covet all the everyday things that sometimes take over.

My Hubby is a romantic. He loves me more than valentines day... obviously... but loves any excuse to express it He is having the day home from work. The kids will both be at school. We will probably go for a nice romantic picnic near a lake/river/dam under a tree And before that... well... did I mention the kids were at school?

He has been soooo cuddly and loving lately so I know I'm in for some serious wooing lol. He always gives himself away, just like a little kid...

Funnily we won't be giving much to the commercialisation side this year as we're broke. But love is free (ok reach for your bucket ) so we'll still have an awesome time.
