Latex vs Tempur mattress. Needs to be safe for co-sleeping
Baby is sleeping in our bed more often than not and we expect that will continue. We're looking at now getting a king bed, so we have room for all of us. We currently sleep on a queen size Tempur. It is the best mattress I've ever slept on. We love it. It is relatively firm, but as it is memory foam, it contours to the body and can hold the heat.
i've been googling and there are different opinions about the safety of co-sleeping on a tempur-pedic mattress. Some say they are too soft to be safe. There is also concern about chemicals. Our current mattress is 7 years old, but I don't know if a new mattress would have a problem with off-gassing.
DS sleeps curled up in my arm and we face each other chest to chest. He protests sleeping on his back. I make sure there is space between his face and my chest, but I realise it is not as safe as him being on his back. He is getting close to rolling from back to tummy and apparently this is when the risk increases.
would a latex mattress be safer? If anyone has slept on both, is latex as comfortable as a Tempur? What are the differences between latex and memory foam? Does anyone cosleep on a latex mattress?
