Ive already asked Phillipa Kelly and she said at this stage there isnt one that they know of but if I DID find one to let her know. Thanks for looking though!
Ive asked everyone I know and then some here and unfortunately no private middies up here YET (Heck theyve only just got a birth centre thats opening in December!), maybe I can be the first to do homebirths here when I finally get into Uni and become a midwife

    It wont hehe

I recommend Bellybelly to every woman I come across who is sadly misinformed about birthing and in need of some healthy guidance lol I just got my friend to come have a look, she wants a VBA2C. She went into labour with her 2nd baby 3 days early, 3cm dialated contracting nicely but they scared her into a csection by saying she'd bleed to death and lose the baby Horrified me when I heard. So hopefully I can help pass on the message and information to birthing mothers when Im a midwife although Im not sure Id like working in a hospital with the medical attitudes they insist upon nowdays.........thinking I might just do homebirths only lol

OMG Kelly you are an angel you really are thankyou so so so much!

Ive asked about the Birth centre here though so I will give Linda a ring too and see which one pans out better. Atm we are strapped for cash soooooooooo it will be a huge deciding factor in my decision.

I do know of a few people that will be super glad to hear of a homebirth midwife up here though!!!!!!!

    Thanks again!!!

Wow, has it been that long since I visited this thread? Bloody Nora!
I'm having a homebirth in early October, loving my middie - she left the FBC I used for the first birth and I couldn't be happier with her.

I have three children all born at home. I had the same midwife with all three of my children and formed a close bond with her. All my births were completely different, one of mine was a waterbirth, which was beautiful. My last birth was very difficult but the midwife and I worked together and got through it. Would have been devastated if I had to transfer to hospital. My homebirths each cost me $2000 but by the last one it had gone up to $3500 but because I had my previous two children with her she did it for $2500. It is expensive but so worth the effort! The continuity of care and the length of the visits just does not compare to anything else. If you are not sure about a homebirth I would recommend hiring a private midwife to support you in hospital. A friend of mine did that and it worked out really well for her.
