So I am thinking I might jump in here if you will have me. I have been very slow off the mark, but I am feeling the need to to talk more birthy stuff now that I am getting closer to the end. I am 'due' at the end of August but I am hoping for a September baby... So we will see what baby decides

I have just sent out an email to my support people to get everyone organised for the big day and I have purchased a birth pool that should be here next week. I decided to buy it so other women who want to labour at home can borrow it... Maybe it will encourage more homebirths

Squeeee, Tanya!! So lovely to have you in the fold.

Have you used a birth pool before? You might want to get a liner if you intend for the pool to be reused - which is a fantastic idea btw! I borrowed my birth pool and there are many women in my HB circle who look to do the same. The good ones aren't cheap to buy.

Does anyone else get excited when our list grows?

Jen, I birthed in a friends pool with Odin, it was a kids inflatable pool with an inflatable bottom. It was bigger than birth pools but it did the job. I bought a made in water one... I think and I have a liner here so I'm set in that department

Seems there are no June or July bubs, so I guess you are next, Kell

I am presently doing some cooking for Em... and a friend who is having #6 and #7 via c/s in a couple of weeks. Then I suppose I better stock my freezer with yummy food for babymooning

    Help.

I just made some lactation cookies. I used the bb recipe and they taste bad. Do they taste nicer as they cool. I did use the four tablespoons of brewers yeast????

Sounds like you're set Tanya. And a lovely friend, supplying all those meals!

Tegam, I have no idea, sorry. Hope you get an answer though!

    Kel, not long now.

I have another new niece arriving in about six weeks and my sister is going thru a midwives program so I'm reasonably confident of a positive birth experience for her. She's also on a par with me as to info and expectations.

I find myself generally saying your best chance of a normal birth is to stay away from obs, private hospitals and any hospital if you can!

welcome tanya!!!! and congrats on baking a wee bub! early september babies are awesome

Tegam: well, if your dad will eat them, they gotta be alright surely lol?

Jennifer: so cool that there is another baby for you to cuddle so soon! does she live close by?

AFM: well, i have tentatively booked the birth pool again, but the hire cost is only $50 less than the buying cost (including shipping ). so am in two minds...but what would i do with a birth pool afterwards??!

    Hi all!

Just thought I'd pop in to let you all know that I've decided to try get into the MGP at the Mater.

I still want to birth at home but I've just realized that I'm only increasing my options by booking into the mater an if all goes well with this pregnancy, I will just cancel my booking later on.

Just wanted to say thanks for all your support and I really hope to be posting in here again soon!

    Take care and talk soon!
    xx

Thanks for all the congratulatory wishes. So in love with my little man. His birth didn't go as smoothly as we hoped but I still got a homebirth just! His big sister helped and played a very important roll in his birth. I will share his both story when I've finished writing it. But the problem was my contractions kept stopping and I had to feed DD in order to get them going again. It was a very long drawn out labour and I was exhausted and started doubting that I'd ever be able to get him out.

Congrats Em I can't wait to stalk your story.

It's great to see the list of home birth babies here, really encouraging. I'll be birthing at home too (as long as nothing goes horribly wrong) but I've been really surprised by how scared and off put friends/family are by the notion! It's just really lovely to see other women choosing to home birth and being fine.

Welcome Mirimum! When do you expect your little one to arrive? It is great to have a growing list!

I got many of the same kinds of comments from friends. DP lives telling ppl now that you have to be more brave to go to hospital.
