Hehehe. Yes was a relief to get to 37 weeks, means homebirth is good to go Pool hasnt arrived yet, think that will make me feel more ready, think everything else is sorted.

No, I dont have any blessings or anything planned, never had one.

Think this will be the last babe for me, this weekend DP brought up having the snip so mixed feelings. Was able to get some gorgeous belly photos though, going to cast my belly (better do that soon) and just trying to focus on the birth and bub for now. I burnt my back with the hot water bottles - a week ago it was red and purple blotches everywhere, now they are red-brown. Whoops.

Sorry I havent contributed much, especially the last few weeks, been so full on. I hate it when you dont have great things to report too, been a tough journey, looking forward to some great things to share.

Looking forward to hearing your news soon after mine Tan

Well would you like some sort of blessing way?

Your back sounds really sore! Guess it goes to show the pain you were trying to elevate initially

Surely I am not having a baby soon.... Nope...

What did you have in mind Tanya? Something online? Yeah the back pain has been crippling, I have cut back hot water bottles and having as many treatments as I can but its such temporary relief. Not sure if I posted it before and cant see on my iphone but my ribcage is twisted to the right (feels like it too) and my right shoulder is messed up trying to compensate. They all tell me the best way to end the pain is to have the baby lol. Helpful people.

You never know Tan you might end up beating me lol. My labours just begin out of nothing normally and I just know that its all on. Can be a slow build up but dont normally have any doubt its labour, after everything being normal.

Umm, not sure, Kell. Was thinking people could post things to you... Birth flags, beads, affirmations or art. And you could have a gathering of women who can make it to you and you can put together the flags, and necklace as well as reading out the affirmations etc.... *shrugs*

    Hi all,

Still here pottering along. 12 weeks tomorrow!! It's come around so quick!!

HotI - you can add me to the list if you like hun. We're due Feb

I haven't really told many people were home birthing yet. A lot of my friends already know I will as they know I plan to go independent once I eventually finish my degree. Plus we also planned a HB for Reid.

I'm not going to mention the possibility of a free birth as I don't expect much support from people.

Not long to go now Kel & Tan!! Exciting times ahead

    Hi everyone else

How's this - I was chatting to the school crossing supervisor and she birthed all of her four babies at home in the 80s and 90s. First two with Maggie Lecky-Thompson. Gotta love random opportunities to talk about HB!

Sara: wahoo on the 12 week mark!! Have you been getting any morning sickness?

Jenn: i had a similar moment when we visited one of DHs old uni profs and he told us that he and his siblings were all born at home

Kelly: that sounds like some serious nesting happening...weeeeeeeeeee!!!

AFM: chugging along nicely now. I saw our awesome homeopath 2 days ago (can you believe that they run them here through mainstream medical systems?? she is a specialist in gynaecology, reproduction, pregnancy, birth etc so is in the maternity section of the public hossy). Anyway, so now have a little post natal kit and some things to take to help with the BH and exhaustion etc.

    Yay Kelly!!! How exciting!!

Cass - Yeah I've had my share of MS Needed IV fluids once which is a big difference to last time. I'm happy to say its seems to be settling now (touch wood). I just seem to be battling the nausea more than anything. I have a box of Ondanzatron which I've been take half tabs of when I feel I need too.

Well looks like I've got myself a birth photographer... For free!!!! I messaged one photographer cause she does great work but she hasn't done any births before so recommended another woman who also hasnt done a birth but offered to do it for free I just have to pay for travel!! So I'm feeling pretty good about that.

Im not having much luck finding a midwife to support me for the birth though. I've sent 5 emails to midwives in the area and only had a response from 1 so far saying no. So I guess I'll just keep pottering along and hope someone else replies.

I'd really rather have a Midwife there, mostly for DP's sake, but if we can't get one then so be it I guess.

    Hi everyone else!

Sara, thats awesome! You must be stoked! Mine hasnt done a homebirth before so hope it goes well, but she's lovely. Have worded her up on the differences to hospital, less interference, interruption, more dimmed lights and less chatter.

Have my 38 week visit today, we're going to go over the birth plan and roles and responsibilities for support people which I think is important - both my partner and his mum (kids support person) only know of homebirth because of me and I want to make sure there is calm in the room and everyone feels okay with their roles, not asking what to do every five minutes or breaking out in all these conversations with everyone else!

Back is feeling a bit better (ribs are feeling very burnt though) but I have been resting at every chance I can, which means having to lie down in some way. Giving myself permission to rest has been a huge thing - I keep telling myself to loosen up, i'm 38 weeks for goodness sakes! If I dont rest now... It'll be a while! Im still getting really lightheaded, breathless and heart racing after showers or other simple activities, thought it would have eased off by now? Apart from that, emotionally I am in a much better place, finally feeling ready to meet this bub and my partner and I are feeling really connected too, just as I hoped The countdown is on!

Sara: About the emails - loads of people find poor response times from IMs - if they get a response at all, myself included. You're really better off to call. X
