CONGRATULATIONS EM!!!!!
I am so so happy for you!!! WAAHOOOOO!!!!
Sounds like you're set Tanya. And a lovely friend, supplying all those meals!
Tegam, I have no idea, sorry. Hope you get an answer though!
Kel, not long now.
I have another new niece arriving in about six weeks and my sister is going thru a midwives program so I'm reasonably confident of a positive birth experience for her. She's also on a par with me as to info and expectations.
I find myself generally saying your best chance of a normal birth is to stay away from obs, private hospitals and any hospital if you can!
Tegam, maybe reply in the cookies thread maybe someone can give you some ideas what might have gone wrong? I hear they are totally yum.
I added more choc drops. My dad ate four and whilst he isn't lactating this morning he did say they were nice :)
welcome tanya!!!! and congrats on baking a wee bub! early september babies are awesome ;)
Tegam: well, if your dad will eat them, they gotta be alright surely lol?
Jennifer: so cool that there is another baby for you to cuddle so soon! does she live close by?
AFM: well, i have tentatively booked the birth pool again, but the hire cost is only $50 less than the buying cost (including shipping :o). so am in two minds...but what would i do with a birth pool afterwards??!
Hi all!
Just thought I'd pop in to let you all know that I've decided to try get into the MGP at the Mater.
I still want to birth at home but I've just realized that I'm only increasing my options by booking into the mater an if all goes well with this pregnancy, I will just cancel my booking later on.
Just wanted to say thanks for all your support and I really hope to be posting in here again soon!
Take care and talk soon!
xx

Thanks for all the congratulatory wishes. So in love with my little man. His birth didn't go as smoothly as we hoped but I still got a homebirth just! His big sister helped and played a very important roll in his birth. I will share his both story when I've finished writing it. But the problem was my contractions kept stopping and I had to feed DD in order to get them going again. It was a very long drawn out labour and I was exhausted and started doubting that I'd ever be able to get him out.
Congrats Em :) I can't wait to stalk your story.
It's great to see the list of home birth babies here, really encouraging. I'll be birthing at home too (as long as nothing goes horribly wrong) but I've been really surprised by how scared and off put friends/family are by the notion! It's just really lovely to see other women choosing to home birth and being fine. :p
Welcome Mirimum! When do you expect your little one to arrive? It is great to have a growing list!
I got many of the same kinds of comments from friends. DP lives telling ppl now that you have to be more brave to go to hospital. ;)
Oh Em, that does sound like it quite the oddessy  how has recovery been?
Mirimum: we had the same when i was planning DD2s birth. i think many ppl believe that HB is done with no planning or preparation that you just waddle around the house and out pops a baby  little do many know that most HBs take ALOT of planning and preparation and knowledge is the key. i never knew so much about my body or baby or situation in general as when i was preparing for DD2s birth (as opposed to DD1s where i just followed along the path directed by the OB...who was nice and all, but you know, not there for me ITMS).
Hi everyone, I'm 8weeks with my second bub, due late Jan / early Feb :) planning another homebirth after having a wonderful birth with DD at home 2.5years ago!
Hi Jennifer! :D nice to 'see' you here!
Welcome Turtlejane! Congrats on the new little one on the way! :)
Yes, it is funny how people look at homebirth. I was reading through a birth story on another forum, and was thinking the whole time "This would have been so much easier if you had just stayed home!" The birth went fine, over all, but every difficulty was hospital related - packing up the other kids and dropping them off, driving to the hospital and encountering bumpy roads and traffic troubles, trying to get up to the labour and delivery floor in hard labour, trying to answer admitting questions while in transition, being required to lie down for monitoring, having to hold still for blood work, having to wait to push until the doctor got there, etc., etc. If she had stayed home, everyone would have come to her, and the whole business could have been much easier!
We're doing well here. DH got fifth disease as well, but he's over it now, and Anna has thrush and we discovered she has a femoral hernia, but that's no big deal right now, and should close on it's own. She slept so well last night! Only woke up once between 11pm and 8am. :)
Welcome turtlejane!

Wow, Em. What an awesome benefit of feeding through pregnancy. I know that wasn't always easy for you. Love to hear your story when you are ready.
Em I'm looking forward to reading the birth story :) bummer it was long and drawn out but am glad all ended up ok.
Me too.. and I've never given birth hahaha
Well if he's anything like my dad, you wouldn't be able to go by that. He eats anything!
My family has had mixed responses. DH suggested HB, SIL had her 2 at home so is supportive, all the women are supportive but the men are hesitant. Dad and brother are particularly concerned and keep trying to talk me out of it. I think they're thinking of a free birth, or a little old lady with a wart on her nose, a cackle and a rusty razor. LOL when the news showed the 3 HB's in SA my bro rang me up to warn me that could happen.
Those who mentioned birth pools, I was going to hire one purely because I wouldn't know what to do with it afterwards. When do I need to get that organised?
Welcome turtlejane and congrats! Good to get a 2013 list underway. I think I know who you are, but since I don't usually call you turtle, feel free to enlighten me!
Em, birth is hard work but it sounds like you put in a great effort. Looking forward to reading your birth story.
Welcome newbies :) I hope your pregnancies are I eventful :)
My birth pool arrived today :)
Also got to have a snuggle of Em's beautiful little squishy! Oh my he is so very sweet! Lucky I am already pregnant! Lol
Have been getting a bit of pain in my right SI joint but itisn't too bad at the moment. My last pregnancy I was in a fair bit of pain at this point, I am hoping to avoid a chiropractic appointment.
I laughed my arse off :

Damn, that would have been awesome.
Sorry, i think they were probably gone by the time i posted. i just saw it and posted straight away without checking how many were left. Good deal for those who got in early though.
Yeah people went nuts! One woman wanted 3!!
How much are they normally?

i think they are normally around 165 for your standard, but loads more for the 'professional' ones....
Welcome to the newbies!! Love seeing more HBs being planned!
How did your scan go Cassius? No triggers and a positive experience I hope :)
the scan went awesomely!!! we have another beautiful baby girl baking away!! the scan place was awful...right smack-bang in a filthy, dark hospital as part of the maternity section. there was no colour or even pretence of trying to make the place look 'homely' like they do in aus maternity hospitals. and the poor women were 6 to a room with all the doors open so you were totally on show :( and babies are taken to nursery as the norm and THEN they call your NUMBER (you are alloted a group number!!) and off you all trot in your wee group to go and see and feed your baby :wall: i kid you not! i was ready to run out due to the horror. thankfully my calmbirth training has been useful beyond the birth and i was able to visualise myself outta that place lol. and the sonographer was a real number i tell ya, actually TOTALLY apologised with sincerity to MY DH that we were unfortunately (his words!) having another girl! it is the first time i wanted to punch someone really hard. how dare he. so so happy that i am staying at home for this baby and have a wonderful beautiful team behind me and my family.
Wow that is just horrid :( I'm sorry you had to face that. At least it's got to make the cost of Hb feel worth it!
So is the baby never with the mum in the room?
Sorry I was so shocked by the experience you had I didn't even say congratulations about the bump being pink!
Oh can't wait to hear your names, I love your girls names.
Just up feeding my little man :)
Cassius:congrats on another girl! Can't believe he said that! And wow at women being called out by number to see their babies!!!
Oopsy a bit tired as I write this I keep fallIng asleep! And dd has currently taken position across my pillow, why do they like to sleep the opposite way the bed goes?!
Em it must be an age thing. Mine do the same. Thank god for a king size bed being almost square lol.
Dd2 was that bad last night ds got back up and said he was going back to his own bed. Now that's a first :)
I'm so excited about your little girl Cassius! I'm one of three sisters and it's the best :D
The scan sounds like an eye opening experience :o The sonographer is a tool! And the maternity ward sounds ghastly. How awful for those babies & their mothers. I'm glad you'll be having your little one in your lovely home with maximum love & cuddles.
My little one spent ages sleeping in the H position too! He still does it on a bad night.
Congrats on a little woman Cassius!! I've got a feeling there's another pink bundle growing inside me as well.
Where abouts are you located?
Wherever it is, it sounds shocking!! It reminds me of some of the footage i saw on the Guerilla Midwife film about the Maternity system in Indonesia.
If women can't afford to pay their hospital bills, they aren't allowed to take their babies home. The babies are left in the nursery without any care and the mums are only allowed in twice a day to care for and feed the babies. The women are camping outside the hospital waiting for the allotted times. Totally devastating stuff.
Congrats on the new little girl on the way Cassius! We love girls at our house too - the more the merrier. :) I've also got 4 sisters. People say strange things though - when DD5 was born, one of the neighbours came over to congratulate us, and said "Oh, another girl. That's too bad. I was hoping you'd have a boy..." :o Ummm... thanks. Go home now, OK?
Nawww on your little girl Cassius, I was totaly floored to find out this bellybabe was a boy.. was totaly expecting girl no3.
Gosh Cricket, some people are idiots hey!
Wriggler is laying tranverse at the moment, back up, having marvelous fun kicking and tickling my cervix..
I have sooo much to get done.. I'm sooo sick poor me poor me
Congrats Cassius! The hospital sounds awful. I'm one of three girls and if we have another I'll be hoping for girl no 3 tbh. Sisters are the best!
