Congrats, sepata! Looking forward to hearing all about it. Sounds like you're another water birth fan.

Arimeh, the term 'fashionably late' comes to mind. Nothing wrong with slow cooking!

That's what I'd say. Which doesn't really help.

I've seen a couple of mentions of Birth Photographers. I have to say the thought occurred to me because I never got any photos in my other births, but I am worried about too many people there.
With my last birth (my homebirth) I actually got in the shower and was all alone. It wasn't a conscious decision, but boy was it nice.

Just what I need at 38 weeks pregnant - bloody gastro! Had a weird day yesterday, felt sick at my mums after breakfast (I had toast) so I went for a walk on her farm. Then we went to the IL's and I was getting hits to the bladder that would take my legs out from under me, my midwife figured it was from his shoulder because he's still oblique. So I had a sandwich for lunch and then felt like I was going to pass out. That went away and on the drive home I had BH's every 4-5 minutes with a squeezing feeling. So I didn't have anything but a cup of Milo for dinner - and now I'm up at 2am with a burning belly and the runs - gastro! Fabulous.

    *sigh*

Arimeh, could it be labour starting? Hope the runs are short lived.

Special, i have seen some gorgeous birth photos and vids, but i also don't want too many people around when i birth. I would like photos, but i would also like to look gorgeous like the photos i have seen, and i don't think i really look that glamorous during pregnancy or birth. I have considered setting my own vid camera up, basically just for my own benefit to take a look later but with no intention for anybody else to ever see it.

it's a bit wierd but i actually think alot about what i am going to wear so that i can get at least one good photo. Also have to remind dh to actually take some!

Arimeh, remember that you won't start to labour when your body feels unwell. The stress of it will stop the flow of your labour hormones. What gestation do you normally give birth at?

Special, I did. I had Georgia video my birth, from documenting delight. She really u dee stood being unobtrusive, and later my Mw and hubby were really surprised at the shots she got, because we were mostly unaware of her presence. That's what a photographer who understands birth does. An ordinary photographer can interfere with your space and could wreck it. Actually bellybelly wrote an article about it a short while ago. You could google.

Bella - nearly 42 weeks usually. I didn't go into labour with DD1 so she was a repeat c-section, and then DD2 came at 12 days over, and DD3 at 11 days over. So I'm not expecting to go early, just sucks at the timing of this crap.

HotI - I wish! The burning feeling in my stomach was the first clue that it wasn't my gallbladder acting up as usual or just clearing out for labour. Nope - its gastro! And DD3 has a really stinky bum at the moment, so I've got a feeling that she's got the same bug.

I've had some toast with honey on it this morning, can't remember what you are supposed to eat or not eat when you have gastro. My brain is totally fried and my house is a mess and I'm on my own today because DH starts his new job at the hospital!

I would come and cheer you up with a house call arimeh, but I just still feel knackered from a combination of jet lag and early pregnancy fatigue. Dd2 had a rough night. Dh is back at work today for the first time in a month, so we are gonna chill out for awhile and then do some cleaning up. Hope you feel better soon.

And thanks Hot1. I think I was really blessed with what she captured. As much as anything it was a snapshot of our family in that moment.
