No kicking yet. *sigh* I wish!! I didn't feel anything before about 20 weeks in my previous pregnancies so I guess I'll keep waiting.

I am lucky to have Sterla in my belly buddies group so it's exciting to have another HBing mama in the group In defense of FB groups- I like that I can post photos and links and swear

We would LOVE to see you in November Cassius!!

    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #19

    Hi girls

Well this baby seems to be growing great guns. I have that stingy feeling at the front/top of my stomach. I thought it might be from the skin stretching, but now I think it might be inflamed/stretched muscle layer, or the ligaments that holds them together, cos it seems to sting worse when I am trying to get out of bed etc.

Getting really tired ATM, and dd has started to wake up over night a fair bit. Not sure if she has two year old molars coming, or if she just senses the baby coming? Either way it is fairly exhausting. And I am finding we have heaps more to do each week with the start of prep this year.

I got newborn cuddles with a friends baby yesterday. I can't wait to hold this little man. For all of the struggles of pregnancy, and the hard work that it is, I do enjoy it, and what it produces at the end. A whole new person to love! Amazing really.

Starting to plan my mother blessing with my sister for in a few weeks. Looking forward to having a henna artist come and do my belly and some designs for my friends hands and feet. It will be such fun! And I am gonna do a belly cast this time. I never wanted to with the others, but I will this time. I think it will be fun. Anyone done one that can make a suggestion regarding a good gestation, or things to keep in mind?

i had that stingy feeling. it was strongest when baby/top of uterus was at the weakest part of my tummy (tummy separation). when baby grew abit more, the pain was not as strong. do you have a supportive tummy band you can wear?

This is the first time my bellybuddy group went to fb, and although i was originally reluctant to go, i like it now for the same reasons that meow said. as it is a private group, i feel more able to share there, and appreciate being able to share photos and links.

Yeah I should wear my tummy support, but I am slack cos it has been so hot for so long. I might pull them back out now that it has been cooler this week.

One of my bb groups went to fb. I like to do it after we have gotten to know each other a little, iykwim? This time a a few in our group stopped the idea before it got hold. But I think it will naturally progress there, when the babies start to arrive. I also think it makes it hard for new people who perhaps don't look for a bub group till they are 20-30 weeks and there is no one talking in the forums.

    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #19

Meow: I'm over 20 weeks and barely feeling anything . Actually, the day after I complained in our group of not feeling anything, I had lots of wriggles that day... then nothing. It will happen in time. I'm the same as you - have never felt movement much before 20 weeks. My theory is that I don't have a very sensitive uterus haha!

I quite like our belly buddy group too, but it is a shame that they always seem to move to FB these days. It seems to be the trend... I'm just rolling with it, cause I do love having that support/place to share endless belly pics, etc. And it is so nice to have a homebirthing/like minded mumma in the group - last time I was the only one doing things differently. My last birth wasn't a home birth, it was at an independent birth centre... it is essentially still a home birth, just not in your own home . I haven't mentioned to many people that I'm planning a home birth yet... it would freak most people I know out!

Bella: That must be tough with your DD waking overnight. My DD (who is almost 3) has just started sleeping through in the past few weeks - talk about good timing! I hope your DD starts sleeping for you again soon!
Nawww, newborn snuggles. It's a wonderful reminder that all the discomfort, etc is worth it. I can't wait to smell my bubba's head .
Looking forward to hearing more about your mother blessing!

This third pregnancy thing is weird for me... I feel really disconnected from the whole thing. Firstly I was so sick, all I could do was survive the day. Now I'm feeling better, but my other two kidlets keep me so busy I just don't have time to think about being pregnant, let alone the birth!
I have started pregnancy yoga (a class called Sacred Birth actually), and that has been good. Once a week I have a small window of time where I can just be in the moment with my belly bubba. The visualisation the instructor uses is really powerful, and I have found myself with tears a few times (which is a big deal for me, I'm not a cryer). So that is something.
But yeah, the birth. I've barely thought about it. I know I want a home birth, but that is as far as I've gotten. I did read Arcadia's birth story yesterday though, and that started getting me excited... I might aim to read lots of home birth stories, so if you have any you want to throw my way, go for it .

Sterla, I've been the same till this week with disconnection! Between the other two and the pelvic instability it's taken me a very long time to get into the groove. I'm actually enjoying it now!
Bella - I feel the same, as my buddies group moved to FB very early on and I didn't know them. I don't like to add people I haven't had anything to do with before. My other groups eventually set up on FB and that's where we keep in touch, which I really love. The blessing sounds awesome! We never got round to doing the henna at mine, and I'm still thinking I might use the henna, but don't know when and if I'll have time. No biggie, but thinking birth photos with henna would be very cool!
I've been out all day and I think I'll pay for it later on...very enjoyable to catch up with people, but I'm wrecked and I still have to drive out to a friend's to pick up a butchered lamb...*sigh*

Hi girls, loving reading about all the pgs and birth prep. Deep in juggling territory here and watching DD3 get bigger by the minute. She's doubled her birth weight in 2 1/2 mths - I think tandem feeding is giving me my fattest baby!

SJ - sounds like things are getting close.

my dd (#1) had a big growth spurt after ds (#2) was born. all that newborn milk helped her put on weight.

i think dd2 (#3) might be another slow grower, like the others. i birth big bubs and then they slowly grow on the outside. she is still in sleepy newborn stage. my other two never went through this stage so it is quite interesting and relaxing!

heading to some talks on womens rights in childbirth on the weekend. some women s stories are so harrowing, it is horrible that they occur again and again. there have been a few stories on soldiers and ptsd in the news lately, and i wonder when/if women with ptsd following birth will be recognised in the mainstream.

I have very skinny (ugly) bubs, thank goodness they fatten up very quickly on the old boobie juice.

HotI, probably not - after all, you can't trot out an old fallacy about a 'happy and healthy soldier', can you? Women are gaslighted by "You have a healthy baby" (which we know it a crock, because the health of the baby can't just be measured in AGPAR scores, it must be measured over at least babyhood! As well as ignoring the fact that a baby is part of the mother and if the mother is not healthy then they dyad is not healthy) when it comes to birth trauma and the medics reinforce it, so I can't see it being a more recognised condition
I've vacuumed, I've been at the beach for a quick swim (in some very white-washy surf with kick in it), I've walked around some strip shopping and now stacking my bookshelf with baby stuff. I wonder if this baby realises that all this means the eviction notice has been served? I may well need to resort to requesting a hot and spicy Tom Yum from the new takeaway place tonight...or all weekend...

Bit of activity today in my lower belly and it's not a digestive thing, I have decided!
I saw the GP today and she offered a stretch and sweep, which I initially declined, before changing my mind. These tightenings are coming on roughly every 8-10 mins and I hope they don't back off like they did with DD! But if they do, then at least I'll deal with it better this time round

May this be labour and a beautiful birth, if not sending you much strength and love to know that all this is still for something and another step closer to holding your baby soon!
