Forgot to add, Bella, I showed my DS2 your birth video yesterday and I got to explain exactly what was going on and that I would be doing the same, he was so interested. Thanks again for sharing it, its lovely (I teared up again!)

Meow, hope all that resting helps.

Bella, not far away from 13 wks. Fx it all improves.

    Getting ready to stalk.

I am in mastitis misery. Had an awful night, very feverish and soooo ill. Feeling weak and wobbly today but DP stayed home from work so I got to rest. My poor bb! Tandem feeding is helping. Haven't had mastitis since DD1 and it's very unwelcome.

Phy: I would have a chat with both of your IMs and go from there. Sometimes the answer is in the question: ie. asking them who they would prefer to be primary midwife in your particular case and why. This is what I love about planning a HB, you get to ask those questions and get real answers and have the choice! Considering that your journey with your first IM was so positive I would ask the question to her first. you trust her judgement already and she probably will say that she still wants to be your primary, just that on the off chance that you do labour faster than she can get there, at least there is the option of the IM that lives closer at least being at hand until she arrives. My guess is that she just doesnt want you to feel that you are at risk of birthing alone and feeling lost. I know that it was one of the biggest considerations with my IMs as i have laboured rather quickly with my last two babies and they both live roughly an hour away.

Meow: Can I just say that i am so so glad that you changed IMs! Gosh, imagine going through this [not!] stress of platelets and worries about a hospital birth with the other lady. Phew! For all the hardships this pg journey has thrown you, there is that nugget of gold to hold onto

Jen: ouchies! Feed, feed, feed girl! it is no fun at all

Glad to hear you're on the mend Jen. I hope you're okay too Em. Mastitis is awful

Cassius- I agree! I am SO glad I switched midwives! This one is wonderful and she is really helping get through this and I can really talk to her about it and not feel like she adds to my stress and makes bizarre high risk claims. This one doesn't white wash it but doesn't sensationalise it either. I'm a little bummed as she was just on her way for an appointment now but got called to a birth. Should see her tomorrow. I'm also going to do another blood test tomorrow. It's only 3 days since the last one but I don't want to wait a full week in case baby comes. I hope I'm not being rash though as I'll be shattered if my platelets have gone down again! They just need to come up 3 more points at the moment. Will have another good sleep dreaming of my bone marrow sending out beautiful platelets tonight.

I also have a hematologist appointment for next Tuesday... the day before my due date. In any case I'm not thinking there will be much time left to get anything out of that appointment but it's worth a shot!

Woohoo!!! Surely any distance qualifies as not covering the cervix so it sounds great to me! And you have more time still. Such fantastic news! Too many of us teetering on high risk!

    Re: Homebirth General Discussion #21

Just had a good appointment with my MW. She said the way my blood results came up so much in the last test she would keep me home if I went into labour now, even though I'm still below 90. And that was with consulting OB in agreement too But I've already had another blood test this morning so fingers crossed the results of that are good tomorrow.

Oh yuck Tegam. I hope it passes quickly and you don't get sick xx

    Not nice
When we all got it bad I was pregnant with DS2 and still recovering when I went into labour.
So much for resting for you! Get some probiotics into them. Hopefully they are the only ones affected!

    Meow: yay that's great

Oh Tegam... does that mean you're sick? Argh! Hope you get over it quickly and don't get too run down with your husband away.

Phew for the new awesome MW huh? If only I'd picked her from the start. Oh well, it's been a journey this pregnancy. Learning SO much about the journey of homebirth that perhaps I needed to cram in to this last pregnancy?!
