Wow! My highly mobile (unstable lie) baby boy knew the right position to be in when he made his way into the world. We only just made it into the pool before he arrived, and i was able to breathe him out with little injury. DH didn't even know we were close, and then i was bringing a baby up out of the water. He is a healthy little boy with everything in the right place. The placenta took a LONG time to come out (longer than the labour ), and i am so glad to have had the expertise of my midwife. He is a big boy, i think i am embarassed to say how big, but weight and head circumference are above 98th percentile. We weren't expecting him to be that big (another reason i am glad i was at home, and didn't have ultrasound towards the end) but he is quite in proportion so doesn't look huge to me. He is feeding well, after sleeping off the birth. DD is quite smitten, although sometimes she squeezes him cos she thinks its funny when he squirms. And she roars to wake him up.
* unstable lie is the medical way of describing when the baby has lots of room to move, and changes position often at the end of the pregnancy.
