highchairs is it true that its important child has flat foot support

We didn't use a high chair with our second. I figured it was just one more annoying thing to clean. He was passed from lap to lap at family meal times and sat on a sheet on the floor for other meals ('coz it's easier to wash a sheet than a high chair, I'm all about lazy parenting lol). I haven't noticed any obvious ill-effects.

Same here. I started to use the highchair with DD2, then it just became annoying with all the cleaning, so I put it back in the shed and she sat on the floor, or on my lap, or wherever else it may have been convenient.

Sounds like it is one of 2 things, either a sales speil from a salesperson so they can sell highchairs or their particular highchair. The other, if there is a specific reason for a certain child to ensure that their feet are flat and not dangling. Often people will take the advice given for one child with special needs and apply it to all children.

I think you would find it hard to find a highchair that allowed the child to sit with flat feet for the whole time they are in the chair. They grow and unless the foot rest was adjustable, their legs are going to be too short or too long most of the time.

Hah, like babies put their feet on foot rests anyway. We have an Ikea chair with no tray we'd just shove up against the table - it slid under the table edge perfectly - and she'd get her feet on the supporting edge thingies of the table and push the chair away, which was apparently great fun.

And then complain the food was too far away to reach

Now the high chair is Not Acceptable and she has to have a big chair, so she wasn't even in the high chair very long. She has to have big people plates and cutlery too, none of this specialised ergonomic baby cutlery. Remember a lot of baby stuff out there exists to line manufacturer's pockets.

Nah I don't think so. They really aren't in the high chair long enough for it to be an issue I would think. Personally I find the foot rest on ours to be annoying for 3 reasons...1st being that it is a wonderful helper for the little one to climb up into the highchair when they get to the climbing age (anyone care to guess what DD's favourite trick is ATM ) so it's kind of a dangerous addition IMO, and 2nd it's not adjustable on mine so is a waste until they are big enough which with my kids is 18mths+, and 3rd it collects dropped food and then they tread their feet on it and get food on feet as well as hair etc...

I have a peg prego prima pappa BTW.
