i'm sure her she didn't mean it to sound the way it did. I remember by SIL offering the same thing and I was a bit taken aback by the prospect.
I have had a few of the Lap procedures and it is certainly not a bad idea, I know when they did mine they checked my tubes and a few other things while they were in there. The recovery is not too bad, you to feel a tad poked and prodded but!
I would suggest doing some research as Marcellus has suggested (try not to google though, I would get out some medical books) and then speak with your Doctor. If you are not getting the information you need I would find another specialist who is more willing to look at other areas.
Keep your chin up I really hope everything works out for you.
I've had a couple of laps done. My FS wouldn't start IVF without having had one done!! "It's good to know that you're starting with a clean slate, so to speak". His words!
Thanks heaps ladies! yeah i will suggest some other test to be done too. Marcellus, i had 3 5 day embryos and a 1 6 day embryo and they told me they were good quaility embryos? I f you dont mind me asking how much did the procedure cost? and im guessing it can only be done at a private hospital? will i get in straight away?
It is possible to get it done in teh public system, but you'll have to wait.
I think it's $3000-4000-ish, but depends on whether you have PHI also and what level of cover. I had mine done overseas and it was about $200 (score!).
In that case, yeah, I'd be asking why they're not working. Sometimes it is just ****ty luck, but it's always worth asking I think.
Yeah, well it's free if you go public, but as I said, you'd have to wait - get yourself down on a waiting lsit right away!
I'm not sure about the cost btw, this is just my understanding. Have a look, someone posted about this recently asking about costs....
:hugs: Im sure your BIL GF had her heart in the right place, but I have to agree - it is a bit early to be thinking surrogacy (I know its hard)
My gyno will be performing a Lap in 6 weeks through the public system.
Basically he told me the wait for my local (public) hossie is a year and a half, yet if I travel a half hr (Blue Mtns) it will only take me 6 weeks. I first seen this gyno last week. I'll be having a D&C, pressurized blue dye test (for the tubes) and they will be having a look around (I have a cyst)
All the wonderful ladies here reassured me it is only minor surgery (which has made me feel better)
I hope a Lap will give you (and I) some more answers on this TTC journey!
