Puregon injections

i have been with 2 clinics, both have said to me that it doesnt matter when (morning or evening), just as long as it was the same time each day. clinics do differ in their protocols though, so maybe just ring and ask one of your nurses to make sure.

for one of my stims, i chose to do the puregon injections in the evening bc the clinic gave me a specific time to do the orgalutran ones (starting around day 8ish, to stop you ovulating) in the mornings - so basically just spacing them out for myself so i didnt have to get up and have 2 injections at once. but to be honest, i wouldnt bother with that now bc i am getting fairly used to the jabs.

I was already planning on doing them at night, for the same reasons as Andie.
I'm on orgalutran as well- starting Friday.
Does the orgalutran hurt? I've got it in my head that it will hurt!

Nah, its just a jab, do it quick and make sure the needle goes straight in and out then you wont end up with any bruises (usually)

I was told to do the puregon (or gonal-f) in the morning. As mentioned above, I think it depends on the Dr's personal preference.

I'm pretty sure I did the orgalutran in the evening. I did find they hurt a little (just a little, NOT a lot) because they needles are a bit on the blunt side, so they don't slide in effortlessly like the puregon ones.

I was on gonal-f and they told me I could do it whenever, morning or evening. I always did them in the morning, as I wanted them out of the way, so I didn't have to worry during the day and I wouldn't be able to forget them either. Sometimes they told me to wait with the gonal-f till after blood tests were done, in case the dose would go up or down.
Orgalutran wasn't too bad, the skin around the injection got all red and rashy looking after the first couple of injections, but after about half an hour that went down again. Have heard from others their skin did the same and I told the clinic, but they weren't worried about it.

I did mine at 9 pm every night, and for me the orgalutran needle hurt a little bit more than the gonal/puregon, but I think that's because it's slightly a thicker needle. The gonal/puregon needles are so thin I think. Do the same with the orgalutran (morning needle), as in pinch the skin quite hard so you don't feel the needle going in so much. I found that if I inserted the orgalutran needle at a funny angle, it hurt more. Other times it was OK. GL sweets

i will be honest - the needle is bigger for orgalutran than puregon, so you can feel it more, but i wouldnt say it hurts. you need a little more pressure to pierce the skin with the orgalutran ones. watching my dh do it, its a little more awkward to administer, holding needle still while plunging - but again, you will get the hang of it after a few. you are already braver than me, preparing to do them yourself, so i reckon you will be fine!

i did the puregon shots at 8 each night - no idea why i chose that time - wasn't ordered by the clinic or anything - i think it was mostly because i knew i'd be home by that time each night so i didn't have to try and remember to take needles/drugs with me. i set an alarm to remind me to do it all
orgalutron and ummmmmmmmmmmm, for the life of me, i can't remember the other one, but same action, different brand - anyone, for those one, i had them at whatever time the clinic told me to. if it was a full cycle and automatically starting on a certain day (getting ready for EPU) i did them at 10 at night as was asked by the clinic - when it was an IUI and they just wanted the follies to develop a few more days, it was 24 hours after the shot the nurse gave me when they did the scan and started the jabs. usually around 10.30-11 in the morning. those ones were more interesting to manage cos i had to take myself off to the bathrooms at work to jab!

orgalutron needles are a little thicker, a little blunter, and a little more awkward - but i didn't find them any more painful - just had to get my head around how to get it all to coordinate it all - i always jabbed, let myself adapt to that, then pushed the fluid in slowly. i know some say jab and push it all in quickly, but if i tried that approach, i got more anxious, thinking it might not work right etc - slow and steady was much easier for me...
