Can you believe, my Mum (with 5 kids) went totally without a washing machine for around 2 years when my little brother was born.

So, this was in the UK, cold weather, with a cloth nappy wearing baby boy, 4 other children plus my dad, and she did the washing by hand for nearly 2 years.
