I've hit the limit a few times.

I've never said thank you, nor expected one. As far as I'm aware/concerned, giving a rep point is you saying "great post, thanks for the help" or "thanks for sharing" or just a "thank you, that meant something to me". I don't say thank you for a thank you, so I don't respond to rep points. Aside from internally, of course. I love them! Give me more! I want to lap up my adoration... because I just like being all nice and helpful, not an ego thing at all. Really.
