OMG I'm thanking my lucky stars that I'm the only woman my DH has ever "known" because I've never really had to bother about it! I would be *mortified* to discover by process of getting intimate with a new man that men have an expectation of hairlessness?

I have suffered horrible skin irritation every time I shave/trim/use creams - so I therefore mostly don't bother. Would love to get the whole area tidied permanently via laser removal but first I would have to get past a) fear of someone seeing my inner thighs and b) horrible embarrassment over how fat I am and c) embarrassment over someone seeing how much or how little of your bits they need to see to get the job done. So until that day comes, it's ala naturel for this yeti woman.

I find the idea of brazilians totally pre-pubescent and feel that if that is what men are attracted to it is sick, sick, sick.
I agree to an extent babe but then since when do we worry about what other people think about a region that has clothing on it 99% of the time and is unseen to the public????

I have had issues with this my whole life...I once shaved (owies as I cut a certain left curtain from front to back for my ex who thought I has an idiot and wouldnt even look at me until it grew back (I kid you not). It was then that I realised that it was so much cleaner for me to have the hair removed.

I also watched a birthing video when I was pg with Nikolaus, were I swear to god that the woman had hair that long in that region when had bob marley dread locks!

Im not a fan of someone else putting hot wax on my vaj vaj and moving my curtains around to see the inner me ....I use hair removal cream (avon brand) that stays on for 10 mins and then washes of...no itchness from shaving and I have super sensitive skin which is uneffected...no being scared of accidents ..... no one playing peekaboo.

Each to their own...and I respect those who dont...I just cant imagine AF time with Forest de Maz and all the muck....BLAH!!!!!

Maz- does that cream work well?
I've tried some brands before but I found they wouldn't get the hair off very well and it wasn't just a case of wash it off, it was scrape really hard or the hair would just stay there, lol.
Maybe I need to try avon.

Interesting. I thought I was the only one who thought that Brazillians were a little.. well... odd. I actually have had one and liked the feel of it, but it still seems a bit weird.

Just for my own curiousity here- with shaving, isn't it itchy?

When I can be bothered, I use cream and take most of it, leaving a landing strip which I trim. I remember being about 35 weeks pregnant with ds and dh asking me wasn't I going to have a wax before the birth, so the midwife wouldn't think I was 'feral'? I swear nearly decked him. Idiot.
I usually keep the edges tidy - iykwim - with a shaver and yes it is itchy sometimes depending on what razor I use. I haven't got anyone other thanme seeing it anyway so I don't think it matters too much - but there are the days in the shower I go - wow better tidy up incase I am in a car accident or something! Clean undies are fine, but don't want them to be scared by what they may find beneath haha!

I have found in the past that if I trim too much, I get incredibly itchy and thrushish too - and as for brazilian,I could NEVER imagine letting any stranger get that close to my bits!

I voted "brazillian" because thats what I ask for when I book my wax BUT I also ask them to leave a landing strip as I too find it a bit sick thinking of DH being "turned on" looking at my body with NO womanly pubic hair if that makes sense. I have had it all off a couple of times, one being while I was PG with Tobias & forgot to ask the lady to leave a landing strip until it was too late LOL stupid baby brain, but I didnt like the thought of having NO hair down there, I do feel like having no hair at all makes you resemble a child to a certain extent (no offence intended to those who choose that) which is the part I find to be "sick".

    Each to their own though.....

Lol my DH watches that much porn that it wouldn't matter whether I was the first or the fiftieth, I think he'd expect it anyway because every other va-jay-jay he's seen has been hairless!!
Although, having seen a few of thos videos myself, those girls really need to learn what 'exfoliate' means - some have the nastiest shaving rash, it's so uncomfortable to look at!!

Edit: I wonder if the trend towards hairlessness is geared more toward a certain age group?? My mother is still entirely horrified that I get rid of it all, I remember her asking me after watching me give birth if the doctors still insisted on giving things a tidy-up, and I told her I'd done it myself the day before I was admitted to hospital... she was like, 'AND YOU DO THIS OFTEN?!'
And, from talking to friends, I get the idea that most of the under-30 (and a fair few over) crowd keeps things pretty tidy, to certain degrees (eg some of my friends have landing strips, others take every little thing off, and some go to the length of taking off any that's hiding in their bum-crack etc)...

If I can be bother I will tidy up. Either trim with scissors, shave or wax depending on how much I can be bothered. When I wax I get XX, so a landing strip.

OK, professing total ignorance here - all the porn chicks are totally hairless?? Is that the reason men find it exciting? Cos it's like having his very own porn star at home?? What about the porn star dudes? Are they all hairless down there too? Cos I must confess I am *surprised* by all the accounts of hairless DHs. I thought men were meant to be hairy...??

    Mary Mary Mary!!
What DID you do for your hens night? lol
Most of the porn I have seen if it is post 1995, the chicks are all pretty much hairless.
If it is pre1995, particularly the good vintage 1970s stuff lol they are wild beasts! lol

I personally like to be somewhere inbetween. I have very irritable skin, and after having a wax for the first time for the wedding, I would NEVER do it again. Even using most creams will give me a shocking reaction. I used to shave. That just got annoying cos I have a lot of think coarse hair. (sorry TMI....but the whole thread waaaay TMI! lol)

Oh and yes, every stripper male porn star I have ever seen has been shaved or completely waxed. Some only have a bikini job, but most are bald as badgers. They say it makes it look bigger and more prominent. I just laugh when I think about how painful it must be to get your sack waxed! pmsl

From what I've seen, the vast majority these days are... a few have a little landing strip or a tiny patch at the top of the 'crack', kwim, but yeah, for the most part it's all off... And yeah, most of the boys in the movies take the majority (or all) off as well - I too am a bit surprised that boys keeping it tidy seems to be so widespread these days, as other posters have said they're convinced it makes them 'look bigger' (they're just watching too many stoner movies hahaha, Harold and Kumar I blame you!!).
A bit OT but I personally don't like hairy men hahaha, DH is a tall lanky thing with just a tiny bit of chest hair and a little trail from bellybutton to below the belt, just perfect hahaha, and he's a ginger so you can barely see it - I could never be with a dark-haired, bear-like fella!! lol

im with Cookiemonster, I find the idea of being completely hairfree down there a bit wrong, I am a woman now not a girl.
I do like it to be tidy though and will either get a bikini wax or keep it tidy myself, but every now and then it gets a bit wild, just depends how busy I am etc. DH never complains whatever state its in, though Im sure he preferes it with hair and not without - ohhh, I hate the thought of him being into it 'without'...no offense to others but yea I just dont get the brazillian thing.
Yep, what Salsa and CM said. I shave my pits but for some reason the idea of being hairless "down there" is a bit weird... like I am pretending to be a prepubescent girl... and then that would make my DH a bit of a creep... just my opinion... when I was in my 20's I got rid of it all a few times but the regrowth drived me crazy! I voted the last option: don't think it about it much... but keep the edges tidy.

ETA: now that I have read the entire thread I'm quite amazed by the change in overall opinion compared to a similar thread in BB done a few years ago... back then alot more women preferred the "all off" approach... I was almost a lone voice saying that I preferred to look like a woman rather than a girl "down there". Though I don't really care what other women do... like Maz says: no one but your DH and medical staff see it generally (and they have seen it all and basically don't care what you do).
