I think earrings look terrible on boys and will not be letting DS until he is old enough and go and get it himself. Hopefully he will choose to never get it done.
DD won't be till she in in high school at least.
I'm with lilima big time on this one!

So why is it it different to go get a girls ears done because we think it looks cute/pretty etc. But The DD gets no choice (when they are little I am talking) BUT then not letting an older boy who wants it done simply because we don't like the look of it?

My DH has 2 piercings in his ears. I don't have a problem with my boys gettng it done if they want it done. But just like Isla, they will have to wait till they are a bit older.

My DS1 asked when he was about 12 and I took him to get it done (one ear) he lost interest about a year later and it closed over...about 4 months ago he did it himself at school...I was worried about infection (silly boy) but I looked after it and it healed fine and I really don't mind it.
My DS3 is 8 and really wants his done and has been asking for about 6 mths
I really don't see the difference between getting a girl done or a boy....especially if they ask for it.
I think it is a little unfair to allow one and not the other...but that is just me.

Some of my kids (boy) friends have their ears pierced but my DS has never shown any interest. DH had his ears pierced in high school and has only taken them out in the last year. I'm not a fan of ear piercing on young boys but DS is at the age now where I would probably agree to it. I will NOT allow them to have stretchers in their earlobes until they are over 18 though.

My brother was allowed to get his done at 13. If my boy wanted one it would be the same as if my girl did. I wouldn't really mind. I don't think ear piercings are a big deal. You can always take them out.

Tinks - I agree about the stretchers. I personally don't like them at all, so wouldn't want my child to have one.

I would be happy for DS to have his ear lobe pierced with a needle by a professional when he's old enough to take care of it, which is the same as DD.

I'm not the hugest fan of them on boys but I believe if DD is allowed then DS should be allowed as well.

If vic wanted his done it would be an age he can care for it himself. If he wanted a strecher thingy it would be after he finishes school. Plus i'd get another hole done with him.
