Who Doesnt Like Vegemite ?

As a kid back in South Africa, my mum always hauled out the jar of Marmite when anyone had an upset tummy or was spewing She said that Marmite on toast helps settle the tummy etc. So as a result, whilst I now eat Vegimite in Australia, for me, it still has that nasty association will gastro (thanks mum!!).

I am starting to get over it and I have to say that without it, I don't think I would have survived through my morning sickness! So I love it for a different reason, guess

DH (an Aussie) loves it and will have it on toast all the time if given the chance. For some reason, I will always reach for the jam / cheese etc. before thinking of Vegemite. I do, however, really enjoy it with cheese toast or scraped on the toast before I pop a fried egg on

So I suppose I disprove the theory that most non-Australians (though I am a citizen now) don't like it

My DH hates vegemite and I love it.

I can not stand promite... that is the most disgusting thing ever created!

my son is allergic to some product in it so does that mean he hates it or is it just his body that hates it lol

omg i thort my DS was the only one in Australia allegic to it...doc advised me to just keep gving it to him every now and then as his reaction wasnt to bad and his body would build up an immune to it...he eats it all the time now with just a tiny reaction...

my self i do like it but i have to be craving it to eat it!!

i like vegemite but in small doses - just a scraping - can't do what some do and lather my toast in vegemite - waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much! a teeny jar of vegemite lasts months here! i can't have grilled cheese on toast or toasted cheese sanga without a bit of vegemite though - the two just compliment each other!

I am here to tell you all that those of you who don't like Vegemite, are eating it wrong lol.
It MUST be on toast, not bread. It MUST be spread an inch thick, and it MUST be spread over a layer of real butter (or, at least, some spread that TASTES like butter, not margarine, kwim?). Oh, and it MUST be kept in the fridge because room-temp Vegemite tastes pretty foul, it's only good when it's cold.

I'm another Vegemite lover. Mum used to keep me quiet as a kid by popping me in a high chair and handing me a jar of Vegemite While I was pg with DD, my breakfast nearly every morning was a slice of toast with crunchy peanut butter, a slice of toast with half a jar of Vegemite smeared all over it, and a glass of milk to wash it all down.

Love the stuff. Love it, love it, love it. DD is always in the fridge grabbing out a loaf of bread and the 'maninamite' so I can make her a sandwich

GROSSSSS! That would surely make me vomit. I am a scraping kinda gal... and I like promite too As do the kids

Vegemite is also very good for gravies and casseroles!

I can't stand vegemite. My husband calls me un-Australian because I don't like vegemite and I don't like tomato sauce!

My DD loves it at the moment (she's 14 months). She's been eating it now and then since about 10 months.

^ Eh, I'm not big on tomato sauce either. But then, I hate footy, cricket and tennis so I guess the only Aussie thing about me is my love for Vegemite

Im not overly fussed on vegeimite, I wouldnt eat it eveyday but I dont hate it! Ds loves the stuff! But it spread very thinly!

Isnt great we all have different tastes the world would be pretty boring if we all liked the same stuff

Neither my husband (Dutch) or myself eat Vegemite. He has never liked it and I think I don't like as it was mainly all we had for lunches when young.
I think we must have had the record for the smallest jar kept for the longest time. When my DD2 was living in Qld we had a small jar here for when she came home during the year. She eats it on toast with honey. Shudder

On the other hand my brother LOVES the stuff and cannot have breakfast without it spread on his toast like he is tarring the road. He even has a small scraper he uses to make sure he leaves nothing in the jar. A LARGE jar does go down well for Christmas & birthdays

We always have it in the house but one small bottle will last us a year.

Dp and i have the exact same fight in the shopping centre every month, on whether we'll buy vegemite or promite. (DP- "At $6 a jar i'm only buying one!") (although i always throw my jar in anyway.

I HATE vegemite. I'm Aussie born and bred and i have never been able to eat it, it's horrible.
Promite on piping hot toast smothered with butter though, mmmmmmmmm.

DP, LOVES vegemite. And i think he's a freak. If my son ends up liking vegemite i'm making him get brain altering shock therapy. Lol (of course i'm joking, but i won't be happy cause that'll mean DP will win)(we bet on everything with eachother)

wwwwoooooooooowwwww i can believe how many australians hate vegemite i didnt think one australian hated it but it seems like not many girls on here love it as much as me i must be weird hahaha i also love tomato sauce If theres any other very australian food that anyone can think of that they love please let me know id love to here what you grew up with and still love??
