haha, I love it! I've never thought of it like that....

In my mind, knowing mine and DP's issues, I never really relate DTD to making a baby. So I guess that's why I take so much pleasure in my injections. At least it leaves DTD for enjoyment purposes only! No pressure there!

Congratulations Jaki!!!!!! You must be thrilled!!! Have you had an US yet? What a relief after all the stress.

Hi kimmi, sorry to hear about your cancellation. Why did they cancel it?

I've started the pill and waiting to start injections in a week. Yes, I look forward to the injections too, feels like we're finally doing something rather than waiting around!

So 3 fresh cycles hey? They told us to do at least two; I guess I'm tossing up what to do if this one doesn't work, but I suppose it's worth another go. What do you guys think?

    Hello ladies!

A question for you all...I had my period almost 2 weeks after egg retrieval (right on time as doctor told me to expect). But, now my period is 5 days late, 5! Insane I tell you. I am usually like clockwork, 28 days. Maybe all the ov stim...my body is slow this month?

Did any of you have a late period after your IVF/PGD cycle?

Not after but it was always late waiting to start a cycle, i think its a mind thing. I was waiting for it so it didnt come. If you dont want it to come it does!

Yeah, I agree with Jaki, it's amazing how your mind processes can change your body's functions. Grrr, so frustrating for you.

We are starting injections for our second cycle tomorrow, so really looking forward to it. Fingers crossed again and Jaki, send some of your good luck our way

Have no idea about the EPU date. I even don't know the follicle sizes and my BT results. My FS only told me whether he is happy or not about the results through nurses. I used to ask and research a lot. He was unhappy and told me let him control the medical process because I tried to arrange U/S by myself. I decided to leave everything to him this time since everyone tells me that I am in good hands.

I found my most successful cycle (this one) was the one where i gave up all control and went with the flow, so much more relaxed!

It has been quite here…Just an update, I started to take BCP three weeks ago and will start Lucrin injection this Wednesday. The pills sometimes make me very depressed and emotional. I prefer an antagonist cycle too, but I guess last time when I started stimulation, the leading follicles had already been developed because I have short AF cycle (25 days). That might be the reason that my E2 was growing too fast and I had to be triggered after 9 days of stim as the leading follicles were too large while the smaller ones didn't have time/FSH to catch up. Nurse said long cycle can avoid that. Hope it can work better on me.

Time flies…I feel like I just did my last cycle yesterday. I will start with FSH 225 IU this time. Don't know how I am going to measure this 5…

DH and i did one round of PGD for our genetic condition and got 3 embryos to day 5 but only one was good enough to be tested it was effected we decided not to do another PGD cycle it was all to much uncertainty and expensive and the odds were not good our odds of naturally concieveing a healthy baby were better so we took our chances and our healthy daughter is due to be born in 11 days.
It is stressful but if you can afford it and handle the emotional rollercoaster then go for it.
Good luck and all the best for this cycle.

EJE--That is the question I was devastated to know after we failed the first cycle. Below is the answer from my PGD scientist. Hope it is helpful to you.

It seems daunting because the % unbalanced is quite high at 70-75%. However, the use of a stimulated cycle means that there are enough embryos created to give a good chance of having one for transfer. Our success rates can only be determined with cycles that have a transfer and we see implantation rates of 50% for women <38 yrs. The average number of embryos biopsied is 3.4 but 15% get no biopsy at all. 86% of couples with a biopsy have a transfer and 50% of those have a foetal heart pregnancy at week 8. This translates to 30% of couples have a foetal heart pregnancy on their first transfer of their first cycle. So you can see that unfortunately it is a matter of statistical chance that you have a suitable embryo to transfer and once this is identified the chance of a pregnancy is quite good. The IVF-PGD process is one where the number of chances you have access to are increased. It can be daunting when things don't go the way you want but nothing is guaranteed in the process for any couple entering. When you look at it objectively though, PGD gives the highest chance of success in the shortest time.

Foxy, I didn't know that you have the translocation problem. You are lucky to have three normal ones to transfer after two IVF+PGD cycles. Hope we can have better luck this time. I just had my first BT yesterday. My E2 was not as high as the first one under this long cycle. It went up to 1300 same time last cycle and reached 8000 when triggering.

    Hi Luisella,
I can identify with being scared to start the journey again - I find myself feeling like we would really be being greedy or pushing our luck to try again!
Like you I used PGD to avoid transmitting a nasty gene (a bone disease in my case), and I became pregnant on my first cycle. And now DS is 3, and I'm not getting any younger, but I am scared to give it another go.
This thread isn't usually this quiet - but a few of the regulars are having a break at the moment.
    hugs
    Kate
