    Hey bf,

I know what you mean about the cost. It all adds up so fast. I only did it leading up to transfer and then before and after on the same day of transfer. After that they said I should avoid acu stimulation until at least 6 weeks to just let the body settle in.

    Fingers crossed for you.

Oh BF i really hope that it all works out in that time frame, It's so hard to not stress out when your relying on your body to do something specific in a set window of time. What kind of stuff did you find online about regulating your cycle?

Co-indecently AF came the day of our FS appointment, I was sort of starting to freak out thinking that it might not come, and what if it's doesn't come next month! LOL oh how the mind torments. So yes we are aiming to do a cycle this month, hopefully my next period is 'on time'.

Jess! That is super exciting about your scan very happy to hear everything is going so well. Yeah we are really hoping that acu will do the trick, it's definatley helping me feel more focused and positive.

I'm in Melb & the person I see is very reasonably priced $45 (well i think so) but it all adds up especially when your doing PGD as you can all appreciate.

That's awesome JBear, so glad you are cycling this month!!! woohoo!!! also, $45 is a total bargain, my guy was twice that price! Keep it up double time LOL!!!

I didn't find much about regulating my cycle. I have started taking vitex as a possible assistance, but really... it's not that scientific. I have been doing reading about medicated vs natural and there doesn't seem to be much in the difference of success rates, natural slightly higher perhaps, just more of an inconvenience and a lot of ladies seem to really dislike the drugs.

I am just hoping my body had a shocker couple of months and I'll be right next month. Meanwhile, the only sign of AF is my raging hormones and insatiable appetite...

    Hi everyone!

I'm new here and found this place by googling for a forum with a group about IVF/PGD.

I am just starting the whole IVF/PGD process for a condition I (only recently) found out I had. So far we have seen the FS done some general tests to make sure my husband and I have no other fertility problems (Sperm test, blood tests, ultrasounds etc) and we have also seen the geneticist and talked about making a work up test etc. We are waiting to see the FS this Wednesday again to talk about the results and for him to write up a treatment plan so we can get started. Apparantly the work up test can take up to 12 weeks and we were supposed to start that last week but the nurse wasnt available to take our blood which we were a bit annoyed about as I can't get another day off from work until the end of the month.

The FS also wants us to do ICSI and CGH so we will be doing all frozen transfers.

I really wanted to join a group where other people are going through something similiar so I can talk about it (I am a member of another pregnancy forum and love it but no one else there has been through PGD). So I can't wait to talk to all of you

I'm so anxious to get started with the IVF and hate all this waiting so need some distractions to help pass the time .

Look forward to getting to know all of you (sorry about the long intro post).

    Hi Booboo,

Welcome to a new time I your life. Good luck. Try and relax as much as possible and know it will happen when it happens. Yoga is a great idea if you don't do it already.

Our work up took 24 weeks, it doesn't mean it will for you, just make sure you don't set yourself deadlines.

All I can say is start acupuncture and exercise. It is the only thing to take your mind off the wait other than work. Also does someone close know what you're going through other than your husband? My mum was my leaning post and I could not have done it without her.

Are you doing this through G?

    Hi Booboo,

Sorry you find yourself here but welcome! I'm also sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis.

We are doing PGD for a disorder my husband has which is a 50/50. The workup took about 14 weeks for us, but if you are with the big clinic starting with G (which your post sounds like you are) they are great at giving updates. When I was going mad wondering where everything was up to, they had no problem with me calling for updates. You will do ICSI by default because they can't risk any other DNA getting in around the embryo when they test it. A freeze all is a good idea too.

PGD is a whole other level of stress on top of IVF, so come and let out your stress in here, we're all in it together so we can share each other's joy of having a healthy baby some day soon.

AFM, well AF finally has turned up this morning. I'm not confident I'll ovulate by day 22 or thereabouts, but at least I feel like I am on the way tonight. DH and I are going out for dinner and a "last hurrah" tonight, as it will be brazil nuts and vegetables steamed in blessed water from now on

    Hi to everyone else!

    Hi Booboo,

I hope you find this forum helpful, i know i certainly have! Like BF said PGD is, a whole other level of stress on top of IVF. It can be really hard to talk to others who don't understand what your going through so this forum and the lovely people are a huge support.

We are doing PGD for trans-located chromosomes I have, it probably took about 3 months for our work up but they had some problems with the dyes. I am the most impatient person but I have trained the lil voice in my head to say 'all good things comes to those who wait'. There is a lot of waiting doing PGD & IVF so look after yourself & each-other.

BF - Yeah i'm pretty happy with my acu guy, as I understand it he is very reasonably priced.
Yay for AF, what day of your cycle are you? Gosh I will keep my FX that you ovulate by day 22 as planned. Enjoy your night out have a massive yummy feed and indulge

AFM - I have my appointment with the nurse next Thursday & will be waiting for AF to arrive so I can start jabbing!

    How is everyone else?

    Thanks for the replies guys

Yes I am going through G for the ivf/pgd (are we not allowed to say the name?).

Yeah the waiting thing stresses me out too. We will be seeing the nurse scientist and accounts person on 3/9 and then I guess they will start the work up. Still a way to go before we start

Did anyone else have cgh testing one?

    Hi booboo!

We did PCR rather than CGH, hopefully your workup will be quick!

I think we are allowed to mention names with some discretion but I try not to say anything that could come up in an internet search.

The day with the nurse/accounts/scientist is really full on, write down any questions you have and take a pen to write down the answers. By the end of the day I had forgotten a lot of the finer details.

    Hi to everyone else!!

AFM, I'm going for my first bloods on Thursday to see how things are going. Ho hum.

Sorry B not sure what our tests were but I can check my file if u want?

Anyone else had to get a new ref in order to continue to claim? It's super annoying going to yet another dr for a piece of paper!

Thx JBear. My referral ran out a couple of months ago so I had to go get a new one. I had to sit there and tell the GP the whole bloody story all over again before he would write it, even though there were other referrals in the system! So annoying!!

    Hi Girls,
I was wondering if I might join you. It is looking like I will be heading to PGD soon.
For those of you who don't know me here's my story so far.
I'm gay and single. I started this journey Feb. 06 started temping and taking vitamins as an ex boyfreind of mine (was straight once!) had agreed to be my donor. In the Aug. he backed out, not ready to be a dad. I was devasteted he is my best freind and I could think of no one better to be my baby's dad. We remain best freinds but I took 6 months before I could even think about looking for someone else. A few months later a gay friend of mine agreed and we got to the testing stage only to find out he was HIV+ and did not know. After supporting him through this I enlisted my freinds help and got them to pretty much ask any guy they met if he wanted to be a dad (I only ever wanted to use a known donor who will very much be in the child's life) . I met Donor Daddy No.1 in Nov. 07. We did home insems. from Feb. 08 till Oct. 09 and had 2 pgs and mc both at 7 weeks on Anzac day a year apart. We moved to IUI and had 2 mc and a chemical. We then did 2 IVF and 1 FET all BFN. He had very low sperm count which got worse and worse (I found out later he was binge drinking and popping pain meds the whole time) and after the FET we gave up. I met Donor Daddy No.2 in Oct '11 and he is awesome, such a sweet guy. We did 6 months of home insem and had 1 chem pg. We have just finished a cycle in which we were going to use donor eggs from my 23 year old friend. Unfortunately, by some unbelieveable stroke of bad luck (like I needed any more!), it turned out she had a AMH of less than 1 and is premenopausal so she only grew one egg and the cycle was cancelled. Now maybe the universe is just telling me 'it ain't never gonna happen, give it up!' but I'm just not ready to quit. I would use donor eggs again from another friend but Donor Daddy does not want to use donor eggs anymore and wants to try IVF.
I have no idea how I muster up any hope that my eggs are any good now as not believing this was how I got my head around using donor eggs to begin with. Plus the whole financial burden comes down on me but what choice do I have?
On the plus side I do stim pretty well (got 20 eggs first time round). Just waiting to hear if FS wants me on the bc pills first. So here we go, next chapter! I sometimes wonder what I would have spent all my time, energy and money doing over the last 4 1/2 years if I hadn't been TTC?

Hi Sunbeam & welcome to the world of PGD!

Thx for sharing your story, you have been through so much! Are you looking at PGD because you have had problems with implantation in the past?

Good luck & hope you get your rainbow baby very soon!!

AFM, had my first BT yesterday and don't have to go back til Monday, so I think things are moving very slowly. I feel sure it will end up cancelled. Oh well, at least something is happening which makes me feel like progress.
