Tips for getting through the TWW?

    Hi

This my first time ever on any forum of any description! Hope I get it right....

I am on day 4 of my 4th IVF cycle and I wondered if anyone has any tips for how best to get on with your life during this weird old time.

I've read lots of different things and I think I'm doing everything right - relaxing, eating well, sleeping well, no alcohol (very hard!) and walking every day.

It's so hard to not visualise what might happen in 10 days.... good or bad.

I fell pregnant on the 1st IVF attempt last year after 5 years of TTC but my dad died the day before I found out. I miscarried at 9 weeks and I had to have a D+C.
Sadly now the TWW is kind of like reliving that time.

Anyway, it's not about what's been, it's about making the most of now.

    Any pearls of wisdom?

Thanks sisters! I'm very excited to see what posts come back....

Wishing you both the best for successful cycles.

I have had a total of 9 official TWW, some I was super positive, some I thought doomed to fail. I have to admit that my frame of mind didn't make any difference to the end result, but being positive did make me feel better. I also liked to have a plan for next try, just in case it didn't work, so I would have something to look forward to. I also did lots of visualization of the embie implanting and goggled lots for images of implantation. The TWW is the worst of times but also the best of times.

Good luck and stick with it xx

Our DD was conceived naturally but we still had the TWW and my advice is to be in it over Christmas/New Years as you don't really have any time to think about it! Sorry, that's not much help at this time of the year but hopefully it gave you something to giggle at

Positive thinking is great, visualising a BFP/being PG certainly helps but I think just going about your normal routine and keeping busy is the key. Having a few fun things to look forward to and distract you really helps I believe (Xmas and New Years were big distractions for me ). I'm not a fan of changing your diet or avoiding alcohol and think those in the TWW should continue life as normal (obviously that doesn't apply for drug addicts or alcoholics) unless your doctor says otherwise. I havent been through IVF so maybe some things are off limits but if not, my best advice is try to relax, continue life as normal, enjoy yourself and stay positive

Get loads of funny movies and laugh lots! Takes your mind off it. I did that in the 2ww after my IVF transfer and it was great. We also went out for lots of nice dinners, movies and just had some quality time together.

And stay away from Dr Google!!

    Wishing you all the best.
