Question Can implantation bleeding be bright red

    Hey everyone

I am currently 6 days past transfer of a blastie and yesterday found bright red blood when I wiped and again today . Its not flowing it just appears. Is this a bad sign? or could it be implanataion bleeding???? I have spoken to nurses and they said to up my progesterone but couldn't say what was happening. Have a blood test next wednesday any Ideas?????

hi nik, sounds promising for you hun. fingers crossed AF doesn't arrive and the BT on weds is a BFP. it is so hard this last week waiting. it really can do your head in. try and stay as positive as you can. i have only ever had brown spotting from the crinone irritating my cervix.
there are a few threads in BB on implantation spotting (in the conception threads i think) where you may get a bit more info on your symptoms.
we are holding your hand hun. xx

    Hey collo

How are you feeling today? Any increase or decrease in the spotting? Have you had any cramping at all?

I know it must be so hard to wait for that blood test on Wednesday - hang in there hun

    Lots of hugs to you,

    Miss C

Hi Miss C yeah I vaed more blood today but now a just have consistent light brown discharge a raging headache and feel very queasy I dont know what is going on. Spoke to nurse told her I did HPT and it is positive but she thinks its either implantation or the signs of an early miscarriage. so confused and feeling yucky Oh I havent had much cramping at all just a bit on and off having blood test on monday now to see whats up

Oh, I'm very glad to hear that they've moved your BT forward then, hun.

Unfortunately there is no proper way to know what's going on before then, which really really sucks

It sounds so hopeful that it's implantation bleeding especially if you haven't had any significant cramping at this stage. Keep drinking that water to keep hydrated for your headache as well.

Keep breathing, hun. Hang in there - I really understand when you're spotting the confusion of not knowing what's going on before your BT - I went through that last cycle. I'm here for you if you need.

    :hugs:

nik, i am so glad you have a BT on monday. hopefully you will know what is going on. the fact that AF hasn't arrived is still a good sign, and it could be an embie borrowing down deep into your lining making themselves at home for the next 9 months

it is such a tough waiting game. xx

Hey dusty and miss C just thought Id update you the bleeding came back again yesterday morning but not much and has now tapered into a light brown discahrge. Not sure what to think though ... Is it a good thing that the red blood stopped or does it mean those bits I had was the embie leaving the building??? guess Ill find out tomorrow for that BFP

    Hi Collo

    Good luck

I was told that implantation bleeding is bright red not brown.

Hey Dusty - couldn't help but notice your comment about the crinone and brown spotting. What does that mean - is it the progesterone affecting your cervix. I get brown spotting just before my period - had lap & hysto, BT's everything is fine, now I have spotting just before and just after AF - no explanation.

Brown spotting is "old" blood. A little TMI here (sorry! ), but it means that it is blood that has been sitting in your vagina / near your cervix for some time before being expelled. I don't know how long this is, though. Bright blood is a sign that the blood is being expelled from your vagina before it gets a chance to sit there and become "old", such as the start of AF beginning to flow.

Belle - to view it from a "movement" point-of-view, brown spotting is often a sign that there is little or no flow, I guess. Brown spotting at the start of your period is probably an indication that flow has yet to start properly, and I don't think it would have anything to do with your cervix. I would think it's the same in reverse if you get it at the end of AF as well - flow slowing down to almost nothing, and small amounts left to expel at the end. I get brown spotting every month usually for a day or two before AF starts, and occasionally a bit of brown spotting in the day or two after AF flow has stopped as well. If you're worried about it though, can you ask your doctor?

I don't think there is rule for implantation bleeding - some sources say it is bright red, and other sources say it is a small amount of light pink. I think it all depends on the individual woman, and I've read stories of women havingbrown spotting and in retrospect thought/realised it was implantation bleeding.

Unfortunately I personally don't believe there is any easy way to tell if spotting either brown or a small amount of red is blood originating from your lining or from your cervix during the TWW if you've been on pessaries/Crinone. It could be either - as dusty says, where your cervix has been irritated by the progesterone (this is a pretty common occurrence when you're on pessaries or Crinone gel in the TWW) or it could be implantation bleeding or even breakthrough bleeding, which can happen sometimes due to the progesterone also.

But collo, it sounds very promising that it has stopped being bright red, as it means there is no longer any flow/real movement to the blood anymore - it's sitting there for a while before it gets expelled now. And I wouldn't think it is your embie being expelled. The longer your body steers clear of increased bright red blood, the better, hun

Very very best of luck with the test tomorrow, hun. We'll be thinking of you and will look forward to hopefully, with everything crossed, hearing good news.

Sticky sticky sticky embie! Stick some more!!!

I POAS today and got BFP staright away and it was a little darker not much but just a smidge than it was on friday. Can you still get a positive 14 days after trigger????? Collo!!!!
    Brilliant news!!!

Trigger wouldn't still be in your system after 14 days, and besides a false positive line from the trigger alone would get fainter over time.

Can't wait to hear what hopefuly will be some joyful news tomorrow!

    Good Luck hun!!!

    Hey Collo

    Good luck

Hey miss c, my spotting has really been a mystery. I have been checked out very thoroughly over the last 18 months with no explanation and I do have a very heavy flow when it starts. Starts and stops promptly and lasts for about 3 days. FS knows all about it.
