    Excited and scared....first IVF cycle

Hi everyone...well, after waiting for what has seemed like ages since my ectopic pregnancy to finally get to this stage, things are finally underway in our first cycle. I have just come off the pill and am taking synarel nasal spray and due to start injections in a few days. Estimated week of egg collection is June 23, which isn't far away. DH and I are excited, and also anxious (especially me)...I know we have to be realistic, but it's so hard not to get my hopes up. At the same time I am trying to brace myself for the fact it might not work this time. The waiting, the lack of control, the treatments, the inability to plan for things properly while in this weird limbo has been getting to me lately. Anyway, fingers and toes crossed now!

Hi Possums, I'm on the same boat as you!! I'm on the pill at the moment and have an appointment with my nurse tomorrow to start syneral and the injections as well! Me and my hubby are both exited and i'm kinda scared of the injections. I resigned from my job a couple of weeks ago,for other reasons also and because i knew its really hard to plan things with ivf and work at the same time, especially needing to head to the hospital every now and then, so hopefully we will both get BFP!!!!!!

Goodluck Possums! We are feeling a similar thing, about to start our first round of ovulation induction shortly after my laparoscopy (fingers crossed) so probably mid July. It is exciting to be starting to TTC but also scary - wishing you all the best for your 1st cycle

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't had a chance to check in for a little while.
Thanks for all the replies...and it's comforting knowing others are at exactly the same stage as me and know how it feels!- good luck....

I actually saw my nurse today and picked up the injections and had a blood test.
I just got the results and feel really let down as my hormones arent baseline where they are supposed to be, so we have to delay the injections for another week and keep on with the synarel , then have another blood test and see where things are in a week.
I feel really anxious now. I'm also worried maybe I am not doing something right. I was so glad to finally be moving forward with things, and now I am worried that things are delayed...and if I dont respond to the synarel enough we have to double the dose.
It's already making me feel sick and headachy and a bit in a fog. Can others relate?
Thanks again everyone for responding and being there.
I'm actually a bit teary now and am at work.

today is my second on syneral and i havent had any real symptoms yet, except for the funny taste afterwards and just feeling really flat for about an hour after and thats it. Are the symptoms yet to come? Also are you supposed to put the nozzle really far into the nose?

Hi-symptoms vary with the individual, so you might be lucky and not get many.
You don't need to put it very far up your nose I don't think.
I just so hope I react properly this next week....I wasn't expecting to have a hiccup at this stage and feel so flat. I'm sure I'll pick up again, but for now, it sux!
    Good luck with your treatment.

Hi there and good luck to all those starting on their first cycle.

I have just been through my first IVF/ICSI and unfortunately got a BFN, however we got 7 extra embies that are frozen out of that cycle, so I am taking that as a big positive.

I agree with Possums in the fact that we all react differently to the drugs. The Syneral gave me a couple of headaches, but I tend to get headaches anyhow. Apart from that I didn't have many symptoms and I reacted perfectly to it. Possums, try not to get down... your body will get there. It is best that they keep you going until you are at baseline otherwise your cycle might not go as well. I wish you heaps of luck.

Bubbles I notice you are in Melb also... which clinic are you going to. I go to MIVF at Freemasons. Best of luck to you also.

By the way, the nozzle is not meant to be pushed too far back into the nose.
