BW - we are the same, FFS I am 21, have PCOS plus we have MF.
From memory the split of issues was something like 40% FF, 40%MF, 10% Unexplained, 10% Both MF&FF
I think that individual responses are better.
If the editor comes in to work on monday to an inbox clogged with angry emails from people who say they won't read the magazine again and are also contacting the advertisers it will have more effect than a one polite group emial. JMO.
ETA - since I'll never bother buying the mag can someone tell me some of the advertisers so I can email them

I guess my problems are "noisier" than DH's. DH's problems mean we need ICSI. We might have got away without IVF without that... low sperm count, bad motility, poor morphology, PCOS, lack of ovulation and a really unfriendly immune system... I really try not to focus on all of it at once, because it starts to look impossible to beat!
I'm certainly loving the group response idea - I'm feeling particularly clumsy with words at the moment!
BW
didn't think of it like that Chloe
maybe i'll send one from each of my email addresses - just to frustrate them - i'm sure i can find three ways of telling them how furious i am!
I THINK if you go to their website it has some of the advertisers on it - woolworths is the major one (they bring out the mag)...

bg- i have 3 valid email addresses - let me know if you want to use them lol!
oh damn- i have a fisher price swing!
hehehe Gracie - i might take you up on that tomorrow - need to cool down a bit before i start emailing - norti words might get thrown in if i type now - and that defeats the purpose - swearing just takes away from the point i'm making
i don't think boycotting advertisers is the way to go - but i can guarantee they'll be getting cc's of my messages if i can find email addresses for them! i think it's more important for them to want to boycott the mag then to boycott them (if that makes sense)
i think you really are right, swearing just makes you seem inarticulate. i know this as dp is the most inartculate man i have ever met! lol
I agree Bec. No wonder people label people doing IVF as people who have left their run too late. Every article I've read about IVF always draws attention back to the "age" factor.
I am now 31, but I have been trying to have my second child for 4 years, and whilst I know that I am so very lucky that I have my son, I also know what I'm missing.
I have PCOS, have had two miscarriages, and only found out by doing IVF that I probably only release one good egg every 2 years. It's nothing that I've done or haven't done, it's not even genetic. Ironically, my mother who passed away recently, tried everything she could to not have children, and ended up with 7!
We shouldn't have to make excuses for why we struggle. I would have thought that people who are lucky enough not to have to resort to such a difficult and invasive process to achieve something that should be so natural, would be thankful that they have been spared all the heartache.
I know I often struggle with the fact that every day in Africa, there are thousands of mothers watching their children die because they have nothing to drink but contaminated water. They have done nothing to deserve their fate, they are just born into a barren continent. And I know that I have never felt smug about the fact that I live in Australia and am lucky enough that I can turn on a tap, and not only get water, but hot water if I choose!
Fertile women have done nothing to achieve such privilege, just as we have done nothing to deserve our infertility.
I noticed that the "disgustingly fertile" author has a contact page on her website. Maybe we should bombard her with our own personal stories so that she can be educated on the various reasons for why not just women, but their partners and children (afterall, they go through all the ups and downs too) have found themselves on IVF's doorstep.
I just can't think at the moment. I can't believe that someone is so naive and lacks compassion for others. And all this for a supermarket magazine?
I got DH to read through the article and he says 'she doesn't know what she is talking about.'
When I get my head around it I'll try and write an email too...
Ooooh, is anyone else a member on any other sites? We should try and spread this around so that they get as many "nasty" emails as possible!!!
I have posted about it on another forum that I visit, hopefully they will take up the cause as well. I'm still infuriated to it.
I just feel it was so unnecessary, you know?
Which forum? Do you mind if I post it on the ones that I stalk? I just don't want to double up.
Absolutely not, post away. The more people that are aware of this crap, the more that can help do something about it.
I actually thought that the IVFer's article was very dignified, and made the 'fertile goddess' look like a spoilt child. Yes she didn't address everything she could have, but to read them both, to me the 'fertile' woman looked like a dill at the end of it, IMO. I actually felt even more sorry for the 'fertile' after that, because if I don't think she could have come across more self-centred, unsympathetic and petty if she tried.
