how many fertlised eggs are needed?

Hi, back again, i had my egg retrival yesterday and all went good and i had 11, recieved a phone call this morning saying that only 2 had fertlised, they explained it was something to do with husbands sperm and that if we do another cycle we would best to do micro injection....so that is a big shock to both of us, we are booked in to have transfer on Sat. morning....but i was wondering what are the chances with only 2 eggs been fertlised....i am trying to stay postive and repeat to myself it only takes one but i am finding it very hard to stay that way atm

We have a member who had just one embryo from her first ever IVF cycle. From that one embryo she had a beautiful little girl. Stay positive. There is hope yet.

    Dove,

Congrats on your 2 little fertilised ones!!!

The thing is, it DOES only take one, its not always (actually it never always) is about the numbers... but the quality.

Keep calm & focus on the fact that it does only take one - hard to do sometimes, but you need to stay positive & strong hun xxx

If you do need to have another cycle, then ICSI will definately improve your numbers of fertilisation... 11 eggs collected is a really good amount.

I have everything crossed for you that these 2 little ones are everything you need to gain your much awaited baby in your arms

It is great that you got two fertilized.

I would say focus on moving forward and remembering that it really does only take one.

Fingers crossed for you on Sat

    Red face Thanks Ladies

Thank you very much for all your kind words, it is really great to have a forum like this, i am a bit dissapointed with my friends atm in the fact that it all seems to be so matter of fact for them and with most of them been pregant with 3rd babies with no troubles i dont feel like i am very supported and they dont really understand what a rollar coaster it is for me and my husband, so i am sooooo thankful to be able to talk to some women who are actually going through the same thing....it is great!!!!
PS- i am remaining as postive as can be, ready to start the creams tom.

    Dove,

Pop in to the LTTTC or the LTTTC & AC threads - there are way too many of us in there that know exactly how you feel
Its nice to be at home with other people who understand where you're coming from

Otherwise, you can read through some of the TTC journals in the member journals section... in any of these threads you'll find truly amazing women who have been through incredible circumstances to try & reach their goals of pregnancy and babies.

All of the women here are truly an inspiration - and being part of this group of such strong women only makes you learn more about yourself, and strengthens you enough to endure this hard, hard journey that is assisted conception....

Welcome to BB - you will find it wonderful, and hopefully we can help to make your journey just that little bit easier
