You're probably best to get the referral from your GYN as he is the one who performed the original procedure so he will know what is required. If you don't want another lap you don't have to have one - there are other procedures that can be done. But your GYN will need to decide which procedure is appropriate. He may have another reason for the lap. Either way you need to speak with him hun. Good luck

Hi Niki, I had the same things which Rufi described.
I would be asking for more answers....Remember ITS YOUR BODY and your FS should be able to answer all the questions you through at him/her.

Best of luck and hope you get some answers

Hi Nikki, sorry you have had to go through this hun...

From memory I think I got my referal from my GP but had the procedure done at the Royal Womens in Melb. (Only because thats where I had the reversal done)

I think the the dye test is painfull if there is an obstruction in the tubes and sometimes the dye can actually clear the blockage.. I had the test done in Aug last year and it was a little painfull, mainly on the right side. I was then told that both tubes were blocked and my only option was IVF.
I should point out that I had my tubes tied 4 years prior and then had a reversal. One year passed and I had not fallen pg, hence the dye test..
As you can imagine I was devistated.... BUT hopefully this gives you a little hope !!!
One month later I fell pg.. could`nt believe it. Sadly miscaried at 9 weeks. But Im happy to say I am now 30 weeks pregnant.

Thinking of you and hope you get the answers you are looking for

hi nikki, sorry you are going through this hun
i have read and reread your first post and can't seem to shake the feeling that your doc is not talking about your fallopium tubes when he said "tube" but maybe means your cervix (kinda a tube, lol). when he said your cervix was tight in medical terms this is stenosis (for a word to google). cervical stenosis has been suggested as a cause of low fertility/infertility. the cervix is part of the uterus and is a muscle so it can spasm (like leasha said ).
so is it possible your fallopium tubes are not blocked, but your cervix spasmed?
sorry but have been tossing up if i should post this, hope i have made things any worse
i agree with the other girls re make another appointment, or get his findings in writting or both.
    hope you get some answers

Teddy - thanks for coming in here and posting - i'm really glad u did... yeah i really dont know what he meant.... im sure he did say that the dye was in my uterus but just seeped out behind my tubes..... i think... gosh i really need to ask so many questions..... before i go back im going to write all my questions on a bit of paper so i dont forget

I'm trying to stay positive atm.... i just need more questions answered and the HSG done i think...

One more question if i may (gosh so many i know)
I was actually thinking of how in the hell the dye could seep through my uterus and behind my tubes.... could i have a hole in my uterus??? Is that at all positive...... would the lap have picked that up??? could they have fixed that????

Thats great that you have some more answers Nikki - and that you have a referral to a FS. I'm sure that will put your mind at ease somewhat - at least your GP is being proactive for you!

I hope you get some more answers at your follow up appointment on Wed.

    Hey Nikki
Thought id add my two cents. I had an HSG at the beginning of all my FT to check my tubes, im pretty sure your gp could refer you for one and it is done at an x ray place. You are generally given some form of pain relief and antispasmotic before you have it done, i had an ibuprofen type pessarie about half an hour before. I wouldnt say it painful, but it is uncomfortable and you can watch them on the xray screen as they insert the dye. In answer to your question i do think it may ahve gone in the wrong place as you are right if it doesnt go through the tubes it would stay in your uterus and slowly leak out when you go to the loo etc. not just go into the abdominal cavity. definately sounds abit suss.
sorry nikki i just read that you went to your GP dont know how i missed that bit (blonde moment) i will leave this info on here though as it may help
i wouldnt worry too much (yes easier said than done) but if hes put it in the wrong place to begin with then the test would be totally inaccurate. also like smithy i only have one tube left and had IVF and am happy to say im 32 weeks pregnant so it can still happen tubes or no tubes. Good luck and i hope you get some answers soon.

Amy - yeah my GP is great ... I went in there today saying, i dont know if u can help BUT (blah blah all abt the lap etc) was just really nice to have a chat to someone i do trust and knows what they are talking abt... he even showed me pic's lol.... was good

Scooby - thanks ... yeah thats what i thought too, that the dye would stay in my uterus... gosh i had the worst weekend worrying sick about all this and it turns out it was in the wrong spot ... i am still worried abt blocked tubes tho because GP also said the dye should have went in to the tubes while i had the curette... i dunno tho.. i will just have to wait and see i guess
I'm glad u left this info here.... it all helps
Congratulations on being 32 weeks..... wow not long to go now

OK - One more question if i may .... I think AF has arrived.. its pretty much on time.. i'm CD27 or something like that which i get AF from CD26 till CD36..... anyway... My AF seems super light and a fair bit of oldish blood..... is still normal??? This afternoon its getting more red (sorry if TMI)
What was all you girls AF like after your LAP????

Your more than Welcome Nikki, just go in with an open mind and ask as many questions as you need to.
Maybe write a list tonight on the main things you want to cover.
Rememeber no question is silly and if it gives you peace of mind to ask you have nothing to loose.

Hi Nikki.. I'm so glad you have gotten a few answers.. I had a Lap done on the 30 September and my AF arrived on time and was pretty normal for me, but my Lap was done on CD7 and all other blood had come through by then.. I was thinking that maybe with you the old was left over and the red is AF with AF bringing the old down if that makes any sense... (sorry.. I do explain stuff in a weird way..)
Good luck and I hope your tubes are fine..
