Ladies, I really need your help. I have just found out that I have enterococcus. I had a full blood count the day after my transfer - not at all related to my cycle but for my endocrinologist. Anyway, my white blood cell count came back higher than the normal range parameters. My endo said it could be because I was on steroids or because of an infection - probably a urinary tract infection. I did a urine test and it was negative. But she called me tonight and told me they continued to grow it in culture and it has come back with this enterococcus. Now, I did some research on the net and it appears it is a normal flora/fauna thing. But it can either be in the fluid surrounding your follicles, or it can be introduced via a catheter at time of EPU or transfer. It could cause problems for implantation/viability of embryos. I have never heard of this before. Has anyone else come across it? I am so, so angry because if I picked up some bacteria from the hospital which has caused the non-viability of my embryos I will just go right off. Please help !
