Loula - Mondays the day hey, all the best sweety and i say go for gold with 2!!
Well girls i had my Hys-Co-Sy (Hysterosonography with Contrast) and gee whiz was it painful. First i had an abdominal ultrasound and it turns out that i have 2 fibroids about 2cm in diameter each. They are within the uterus wall so not unusual for a woman my age and will not affect my ability to conceive so i am grateful that they aren't within my uterus, but something to keep an eye on so they dont grow and impinge on the uterine cavity itself. Quite scary having this ultrasound, got a look at all my bits including my kidneys!!! Which were normal thank god, kept expecting something weird to be growing inside there, but their wasnt. Except for the fibroids which were new!!
Ovaries looked a little "peppered with calcium" which the sonographer said was probably related to when i had the endometriosis removed, which if you looked at the ovary, looks like the surface is a bit sandy, but does not affect their function.
Ok then came the second part of the procedure, the contrast through the tubes. Firstly the radiologist had trouble getting a canula to fit through my cervix seen as how it was day 9 and it was slammed shut, so she tried 3 different ones. That was pretty painful and once she got it in, wow talk about hurties!! But nothing compared to when she started injecting the contrast.
All I could think about was how painful contractions must be because this was pretty bad. The right tube was clear and a little painful but i felt and saw the fluid flow through and spill into my abdomen (i had my own monitor to watch all the procedings) but the left tube, that likes to bend around behind my uterus along with my left ovary, that took alot of effort and alot extra contrast and a hell of alot of pain 9 (i nearly fainted) to get through it so it turns out that my left tube may have been twisted and cut off. Good news is that with the blasting through of the contrast it corrected itself and even my ovary came out of hiding.
So i am the proud owner of two small fibroids, two clear and now untwisted tubes, and two correctly positioned, albiet salt and peppered ovaries!!
Dont think i will get an insemination in before Xmas tho so i've decided to enjoy some christmas cheer and start the new year afresh!!
