I'm back but feeling very incomfortable at the moment.
Ruth08 - Great to hear such fantastic news about your 3 embies. Amazing, see I told you it's not all about the quanity?
I had my EPU last Tuesday 14th and I was lucky enough to get 26 eggs. My last stim cycle I got 20 and was in so much pain for around a week. Yesterday (Thurs 16th) I went in for my transfer (7 embryo's of of 26 eggs - Transfered 2 froze 5) and before I went in I felt fantastic. Even drove my car there and back. (Half hour each way). Anyway, started the crinone last night and haven't slept a wink, woke up really crampy with hot sweats. I can tolerate pain quite well but gee it hurt. I now know who is the culprit. CRINONE !!! It really is the worst.
I am scheduled for my BT on 30th. 13 more crinone applications to go! AND COUNTING!!
Bel - When is your transfer scheduled for? I have my fingers crossed real hard for you. We are all there for you.
Ruth08 - We are now going through the dreaded together, Let's pray for and some . It's our turn, don't you think? This goes for you too Bel!!
Hi Yvette - your numbers sound great! What a haul! Very best for the TWW (agree - crinone = evil).
A question for you if you don't mind - why did you do ICSI? I had 25 eggs on my first EPU and 7 fertilised, 2 didn't progress (in the end we transferred 1 and froze the other 4). FS thought next time they'd do ICSI because they expected a much higher fertilisation rate (and told us there was a problem in the communication b/w spm and eggs). Would be grateful for your thoughts if I need to have another EPU about whether to do ICSI (tho fingers crossed my 4 frosties are enough to avoid it!)

hiya ladies
I have Brought our APP with DR SOO forward now .
i was wondering what test i should do before we go down to save time as we are interstate and if we should we make a app with the IVF westmead for the following day?
The reason we did ICSI is becuase my DH's swimmers and my eggs do not have the same chemical match. In simpler words, he does not have the pin number or the key to get through the door. Also he has low sperm count.
Since we started the IVF treatment my DH has been taking Menevit. It has helped so much with the quality of his swimmers and you can visually see the difference in the appearence. Menevit is availble from most chemists or can be ordered in. It is the brother drug to Elevit.
I am one year younger than you are (30) and because we are young and this is a male factor for us, that is why we produce high volumes of eggs. We are healthy young women.
If I were you, I would 200% stick to the ICSI.
On my first EPU, I got 20 eggs - 19 mature, 1 immature. Out of the 19 I ended up with 4 quality embyro's for transfer. Transferred 2 froze 2.
This EPU I got 26 eggs, again 19 mature, 7 immature. Out of the 19 I got 7 quality embyro's for transfer, Transferred 2 and froze 5.
I asked FS yesterday at transfer if I should be aiming for quality rather than quanity and he said it does not make a difference either way. Odd's are still the same.
Yvette - immensely helpful. thank you. i will definitely proceed to icsi next time if i need to go through the whole thing again. sounds like we have the same prob as you do (non-talking spm and eggs). sounds like we were very lucky to get 5 good embies the first time around without icsi. very best of luck for this time for you - my fingers are firmly crossed!

Hello ladies
IVe come on to check on the "ivf with westmead" girls and alas our thread has been closed I dont know why, i dont think i can keep up with everyone on this thread so my apoligies in advance!
Mrs M - i think if you go back to the ivf westmead thread you can read all the tests im having done. I dont know if i need them all but im getting them just in case. I do not want to get there and Dr Soo says oh you need a test for Rubella etc. The most important one are;
Bloods-
HIV/Syphillus/Gonnoreah/Hep/Rubella immunity
Pap smear
Baseline ultrasound (after AF is finished to check to see everything is quite in there)
Hormone count Day 5 and 21 bloods (FSH level indicate ovarion reserve at start of cycle, day 21 detect if O has occured)
DP needs-
Bloods as above for nasties and hormone count
Sperm analysis
It cant hurt to get;
Dye test (still dont know the name) to check to see if tubes are clear
& Start prenatal vitamins (im just on a multi and a folate, Dp on multi and zinc)
Hope this helps...speaking of Dr Soo, ive brought my appointment forward to January 8 this way DP will still be on Xmas hols so we avoid that whole telling work scenario yay time is just flying by it feels!!!!
Just wanted to let you know that the lovely Bel is in hospital with OHSS. She had her transfer Monday and has been in pain since her EPU. Unfortunately the pain got so bad yesterday, she was admitted and got some morphine to help her.
She tells me her tummy looks 9mths pg due to all the fluid she is retaining.
Just quietly - and don't tell anyone...but I think she is just a little bit (ok a lot) pg. OHSS usually gets worse as soon as HCG starts producing. So yesterday being 4 days after tf sounds just a little too fishy to me. Anyway, I really hope I am right and those perfect little blasties she had put back and doing their stuff.
Just wanted to let you know why she is MIA. I really hope she won't be in hosp for long and makes a super-speedy recovery..
Mrs M .. I like you, wanted all my tests completed prior, I even had most BT's done twice as I was deciding at the time which clinic to go to, so I was seeing 2 FS until I made up my mind, which one "felt right" ..
The test's required by the two clinics were fairly different, they both wanted their own s/a done - so I booked weeks ahead into a SA clinic that was reputable and each clinic used and approved of. (it can takes weeks to get in here in Melb) ..Make sure it says s/a - and checks for antibodies as well, not just the s/a ...... I have kept the blood test records if you would like me to email you the most advanced BT Request ?? - 12 VILES OF BLOOD - so it was comprehensive .. some take a week or so to come back so that would be usefull to have done earlier ...
Be careful of the HSG (ultrasound after they insert a tube through your cervix and run dye through) painfull and one clinic told me, for me it was an unnesasary procedure - even though it showed I had a blocked tube - a vag ultrasound with a written report would be good . Let me know if you want the more advanced blood test requests .. hope that helps
