Long Term TTC & Assisted Conception September 2012

Thanks Juniper and nothing2lose.....I too got the DHEA from the compounding chemist. Apparently the DHEA combined with Luveris or Saizen (HGH) improves egg quality. If so why do they not give us this option before we spend $$$$$$$$???? I started the DHEA this morning and still want to find out whether there is a good difference in taking the Luveris/Saizen, before we commit to spending more $$. I guess being our very last cycle we should try everything..right?

This is all the additions to my normal protocol that we will be undertaking:

Normal Protocol: Lucrin 5iu - Gonal F 300iu - Ovidrel Trigger - crinone pessaries

WE ARE ADDING THESE; (hopefully these combined will be the magical elixir!!) ;)
DHEA - check
Acupuncture - check
More Walking - check
Luveris / HGH - ??
and Day of Transfer do nothing but lie on the couch and watch telly...DD will stay at grandma's for the nite....

that dhea x hgh might be a go-er for us next if we end up having to try again - I was told my egg quality on last pick up was pretty poor :/

ps, find out today if any of my remaining eggies made it to blasty, and my husband is being a douche :angry:

Your new protocol sounds good Emerald! I would highly recommend being a couch potato for a couple of days (3 if you can manage) after your transfer. I did that in all my cycles (except in the last two as I already had DS and he's very active) and it's worked so far. In the last two cycles where I haven't been able to rest properly because of DS I still got one BFP (although that turned into a m/c :(). As for the DHEA, I was really keen to try it, as at my age now (42) I think I need to throw absolutely anything and everything into it to get me that one or two good embryo/s. I mentioned it to my FS but I guess they all have different views on it, and his personal one is that he does not see much improvement on it. I have however read so many positive stories about it here on belly, so I thought it would be good to try. Perhaps knowing my history, my FS doesn't think I need it or it just wouldn't work for me? Dunno hun, but my gorgeous friends here on belly (especcially n2l) told me about CoQ10 and I've now been taking 600 mg per day for the last 2 months so hopefully that will improve my eggs somewhat. Anyway, good luck with your new protocol hun, I think you have a really good plan of action there!

Can I just add you really need to be on DHEA for a minimum of three, but preferably four months before a for it to have any effect. Your eggs are "recruited" to be ovulated three months before they are actually ovulated, so if you stim next month, for example, it is using eggs selected by your body two months ago.

so, none of my embies made it to blasty. :shakehead: I can't say I am not surprised. I am more than expecting the day three I had put back not to work.

I don't know what to do now, as we probably wont be able to afford a stim cycle, and given my result is it worth it? 11 eggs - ohss and only one viable day 3?? (maybe?) Our clinic was great this time and allowed us to pay 5k deposit and claim the rest from medicare before paying the difference. But nothing says they will allow us to do that again, not to mention I still have to find 5k.

I am so sorry Kritkit. I too will be praying your embie sticks and grows. I hate how expensive it is for us. And how it comes down to money constantly.

Hi to everyone else. There are so many of us in here at the moment its hard to keep up.

AFM - My transfer is scheduled for Friday 11.30am. I am so excited to have them back in me and to be at least PUPO for 2 weeks. I miss being pg. It feels strange not to be on any medication. Even though I have had BT daily since last Monday its been by far the easiest cycle so far. FX its my last. So since I ovulated on Sunday 16th does that mean I will get AF on Monday 1st October if not pg? It feels weird that I will only have to wait just over a week to know if its worked. Usually I am on pessaries and that stops AF from arriving, but since not on them I guess it will come by itself. On another note I got engaged on a long weekend camping and we are camping October long weekend. Would be lovely to POAS while away and be positive. Either that or AF will arrive Monday of the long weekend. Ugh camping and AF. Lucky we come home that day.

Thanks Vic - things are looking up, my results have just come in oestrogen is 4704 and progesterone is 268. Also, no pessaries this cycle which is really STRANGE!

I didnt know that if your not on pessaries that AF just arrives? totall clueless... good luck for friday!

Yep Krikkit. You take it everyday. 600mg is the usual recommended dose for ivf.

Maybe I should start taking it? Maybe too late?

Krikkit, the CoQ10 is to help with egg quality, so it's too late for this cycle. It takes 4 months to get the full benefit, so you'd start taking it now for a January cycle. The cycles in between will receive less benefit, but still some.

Hi Emerald Star i use all of the ingredients you are looking at!
I havent had a BFP and dont know if any of it helps but since i upped my DHEA from 50 to 100mg and take CoQ10 600mg my egg quality has gotten better definately still havent got me pregnant but i feel like its getting better each cycle.
I have used Saizen which is very expensive but i too have decided to do it all. Also Luveris but that was free with my clinic.
I think the combination of everything has helped but hard to say???
I have been on the DHEA and Coq10 for 6 months at that strength and personally i think it is that that has made the most difference!
The Saizen just gives it a bit of a boost and not too sure what the Luveris does actually i just get it with my cycle.

What i really want to know is the extent of the difference..if its not too personal...sorry...what were the quality of your eggs eg. quantity, division and transferred before you took the DHEA and Saizen and what were they after?

Hi ladies, for those not stalking the TWW, I just wanted to let you all know I am officially pregnant! Hopefully a very sticky one.

Nurse said all my number were really hight so no follow up BT just my 7 week scan.

I can't believe this day has finally arrive and want to wish all of you all the sticky vibes I can find so that you can all graduate from here. This place really have been a safe haven for me this year and I would have been a complete mess (or more of a mess) with out you ladies.

Will be back to read properly once I get off the train but saw the posts about the ridiculous cost of IVF. Someone at work today asked me "if you won the lottery would you buy a helicopter to get to work?" coz I live pretty far from work. I really wanted to say "hell no. If I won the lottery I would stay at be able to stay at home without work stress and try every conceivable method to conceive until we have our family. Then I would run for politics on a platform of better family benefits for people who want to have families but can't afford the damn cost of getting knocked up!" however, I held my tongue.

Also, about douche husbands...after saying he didn't want me telling any of my family we are about to start IVF, on Monday DH's mum asked me how my tests and things were going. He told the one person who can't keep a secret. I guess the whole state knows by now!

i got a BFN so please put me in waiting for af now :shakehead: .... was sure i was prg kept waking up all last night excited to take my test because i had all the symptoms i was sure!! so majorly upset today had a dark day and to top it off DH and i had a massive argumnt because i was too sensitive and hes not very understanding! hmf! hes in the lounge room and im hiding in the bed :rolleyes:

Sorry can't do more personals, woke up today really dizzy which was scary and then I vomited and had the runs (at one point at the same time :wall:). I don't know if it's gastro or a bug, but I feel so wiped. Ever since DS began cc, we've had nothing but sickness in this house :shakehead:. Poo bum :(

I knew it already.
Took it really hard for the first few days, feeling at least able to function now.
I'm seeing my FS on Monday- but I will be taking some time off.
Have no more frozen embies, so my next cycle will be a stim in maybe November.
I may even wait till next year.
I just need some time to focus on my DD.
I'll pass the time with a fabulous holiday to the Gold Coast next month :)

I'll be lurking, but prib not post much in this thread- good luck to everyone :)

oh Miss B - that sounds really crappy! Sorry you are feeling so bad :hug: I'm doing okay this week - nice to feel a bit more normal - just waiting around for AF now.... and 'containing' ( . )( . )s - keeping them all wrapped up seems to be reducing the leakage for now ;) have decided to make a few changes work wise next year, Dh's idea actually... so am hoping to reduce my hours at work and start up some private work one day a week... feeling good about actually doing something nice for myself and moving forward, whatever happens it will be a good new direction for me.

Emma - another :hug: for you xox sorry lovely.... it's a crappy ride we are on for sure. Totally a good plan to have a break.... we are too... although I don't think I want it to be as long a break as we were going to have.... I'm thinking a November/December/January cycle as well... depending on AF's arrival etc, and discussion with FS at the end of October.

Just got a text...my sister just had her second bub. Very mixed emotions right now. Super excited to be an aunt again but also sad for me and honestly a bit envious. I've always wanted kids, she never did. She got pregnant without trying the first time and "tried" for a month with this one. How is that fair? I also spoke with her tonight and she never even mentioned she was in labour.

Ok, rant over. Stop feeling sorry for myself - just needed to get it out and no one would understand how I am feeling except you ladies. I can't wait to see pictures of my new nephew, cuddles in about four months when I get back to Perth.

AFM AF is about to show up, very conveniently, probably tomorrow eh today for you guys, as I'm in Europe and it's the day of my brother's wedding... Did POAS today, just in case, but yet another BFN :( I hate this TTC, so want it to be over. All these people falling pregnant around me and some not even necessarily wanting it. My DF has even stopped telling me when anyone's missus from guys at work is pregnant. One of the apprentice's girls has fallen pregnant, they're extremely young and didn't necessarily want one... :( I think it even upsets my DF. All these guys that talk about their little ones. Another Xmas coming up relatively soon, where they will take their little ones and show them off and me and my DF won't be able to take our little angel hub, will we... Grmbl, I suppose I should just put it out of my head and enjoy my holiday, can't complain about being in Europe now, even though the weather is crappy. sarah4kurt - :hug: men are so stupid and frustrating sometimes! my hubby won't plan for the future at all. He would rather wait, where as I am preparing for the worst and trying to find the money to do a second round of stim!

AFM - debilitating day yesterday, very painful cramping possibly a bit of ohss again. I was on the phone to the clinic - they are making me measure and weigh still, I ended up getting the runs and staying in bed most of the arvo and hubby came home early. Loads of panadol and heat packs and an early night for me. still waking at least once or twice a night for a pee aswell. Ironically, after searching for the old TTC thread where DD was conceived the BT results and symptoms are similar so it could be good news soon!

EDIT - which brand of CoQ10 is everyone using?

Krikkit, FX those are good signs. I hope you're feeling better soon. With the CoQ10, I'm taking one by NFM which I get from my acu (I don't think you can get it retail, just through practitioners) and the Swisse. I'm only taking the Swisse because I bought them 40% off at Target the other week, otherwise they're too expensive ($40 for 30 tablets).

Afm, I was talking to DH last night and he says we can only afford 1 fresh cycle if this FET doesn't work. Since it took 5 cycles to get DD, that's a pretty depressing situation... :(
