My DH rang me and told me that perhaps I need to be tougher. I feel like I am living a parallel life! I mean is IVF known as some kind of holiday to everyone but me? My DH tried to be nice but I know he really thinks I am being a bit pathetic. I am known for being a very tough person so the fact he says I need to toughen it about this process amazes me. I do all the procedures on my own so I don't think he gets it at all! (end of rant)
I am feeling better now if only because I found out that I have 4 blasts of which 3 are very good quality. Am thinking I will ask my FS if I can put two back in next time as the costs of IVF are killing us.
Did any of your FS's give you advice as to when you are allowed to put 2 back?
Thanks ladies, I was an awful, awful mess this morning but am feeling a bit better now
xxx
Lairdoz - I know how you feel about doing the process yourself. They really get the easy end of the deal. My new FS told my DH he has to masturbate every day including the day before egg pick up and he acted like the end of the world. My FS had to remind him of everything I had been through this year and told him to suck it up.
My DH can be pretty insensitive as well, especially when I had my first m/c. But I have found it is mainly when I push him away and don't let him in. I found the counselling helped us pull together a lot. Without it I don't think we would have made it this year.
My previous FS said he would not transfer 2 embryos until I was over 35, my new FS said we can do 2 this time as she is just going to try everything including assisted hatching and embryo glue to try and get a result for us.
Lairdoz - I'm only 27 and quite healthy (it is DH who had vas) so my FS STRONGLY advised us to only put in 1, but given the costs and the higher % of 1 taking if we put 2 in, we decided to put 2 in. As my other posts read, it appears as tho none took.
The only thing you need to consider is whether you would be ok with having twins .- and the additional complications that can arise with twins ... I figured I'd rather have twins than none at all (unfortunately this time I got none at all!!).
Thanks Ladies, I love BB. I have such a headache from all the crying these past two days, but reading your replies makes such a difference.
I just rang my clinic and I am not pregnant, but more concerning is that my progesterone is only 30 which considering I am on Crinone the nurse said explains why nothing happened (it's been about 140 at this time in my other cycles). She said I will have to have injections if and when I do this again as that number is way too long at 11dpo when you are on Crinone.
Sorry for no persies, I hope I am back up to saying hello and supporting you guys as you have supported me very soon. Please let there be lots of BFP's before I come back xxx
Laidoz, a holiday it is not! Want me to have my DH explain to him just how neurotic I am during an IVF cycle? And that's before the bfn... After one of my bfn's I was depressed for 2 weeks, so please don't let him tell you you're overreacting. Every time a cycle fails we need to grieve for the potential child we lost... I hope he is able to understand eventually. Oh, and we switched to transferring 2 embies for IVF#2 (after 2 failed SETs).
M2B, we started seeing Dr M earlier this year after 2 years seeing his colleague down the hall. Maybe we'll bump into each other one day? I can't believe how high your progesterone is! Especially if you had stopped the meds! FX you've just got a slow starter there.
Trubabe, I hope you find a way to adjust to the change in your mum's schedule. If there's anything I can do to help, please PM me.
A belated welcome to our new folk.
Sorry, as usual I'm having trouble keeping up with everyone. I have to pick up dinner soon, so please forgive this rather generically worded (but sincerely intended) sentiment: I wish all the luck in the world to those of us cycling or in the 2ww. I wish only the best of health to our graduates and their miraculous bubs-2-be. And for those waiting (like me), our turn will come and we're another day closer to it...
Melttc ~ Thanks hun. Good on ya - sounds like you're in good spirits and have a good attitude, hope time conitnues to go quick and FX for you!
Terry ~ thank you. Unfortunately though it is another weekend of waiting. I guess I'll be waiting right up until my next scan which is another couple of weeks away yet.
I hope the dr's can treat your issue and that you can do a cycle very soon or even get pg naturally, FX!
Mum-2-be ~ thanks heaps. Yep he or she is a little fighter! Just hope he/she didnt leave us a little while ago and left the sac behind. Thats not neccessarily going to happen to you. Your HCG will go up I reckon. Your Progesterone is good. See I was the opposite my progesterone was only 2.6 first BT and HCG was 38 but it did double and increase. I'll be and FX your HCG goes up.
JBM ~ exciting - not long now!
Brunette ~ Sorry your body isnt quite behaving. FX your cycle goes ahead.
Murraycod ~ thanks honey, yep it sure has been a long road so far - not giving up hope just yet xoxo!
So sorry your cycle was cancelled but Im pleased you can try next month. All the best, FX
Lairdoz ~ So sorry hun about AF I know how hard it is. I dont know your situation with your DH and I dont want to sound like Im not sticking up for you but I wonder whether that was just DH's way of grieving and dealing with it all. I know I am the one constantly asking my DH how much money do we have because I want enough for future tries. So perhaps that was his reasoning for asking too. Although if he's treating you badly thats not good at all. Ive been in a similar position with my DH so know how you feel. Hope to see you around soon for another try hun and I hope things get better with DH. Im sure it will over time - big hugs!
I reckon go for transferring 2, im going to do the same next time if this ends badly for us. xoxo
AFM ~Had BT yestie, should know results by Tuesday hopefully but I have FS appointment Wed, so I can hoepfully have a good long chat to him about everything then and at last should get his thoughts on what could be happeing or happened. Ive had bad headaches the last couple of days and if not pg AF would be due very soon so that's not a good sign
Loops - Why does your BT results take so long? Do they have to send them away? I really hope you get your answer soon. How are you holding up?
Laridoz - Sorry to hear about your BFN I found that talking to my DH and explaining how i felt helped a little, but i found that if my DH was being insensitive or rude to me it was just his reaction to loss and frustrationa t it all. Talking to the counsellor at our clinic really helped as well. Great news about having some snowbubs there to use. The process of FET is a lot less stressful. If your FS will agree to put 2 back and you don't mind the prospect of having twins i would go for it. We would have liked to put 2 back but my FS is really against it especially if they are blasts and becasue i am so young, he believes the risks to me and the babies would be too much. Hope you are feeling better and remember we are always here to listen
m2b - FX for your results i hope that your HCG continues to keep rising.
murraycod - sorry to hear your FET was cancelled. All the best for your next cycle.
Mellybelly - How is everything going with your first cycle of IVF? Hope the drugs aren't playing too much havoc with your body!
CK77- Hi, welcome (sorry it's belated). How is everything going with your first cycle? I was on pregnyl injections so i can' help you with the Gonal sorry, but ask anything else you like! I beleive the more information you have the better prepared you will be.
Juniper - How's things going hun? how are you feeling now?
melttc - How are you surviving the TWW? FX that you get a BFP, we all need some good news i think!!
dreamrise659 & KrisGray - Welcome and Hi, you ahve come to the right place!
Trueblue - Hi we tried 2 IUI cycles, I ovulate on day 19 or 20 of my cycle so i didn't need to be on clomid or any drugs. They just monitor your levels with BT's and when you are ovulating they will get DH to do his thing and then they will use a catheter to 'deliver the package'. It is just like having a pap smear done, there is no pain and you are wide awake! The TWW is the worst part of it!! FX your first cycle is all you will need.
Terry, JBM, Emerald Star, Brunette - hope you ladies are doing well.
I really hope i didn't miss anyone, if i did i'm sorry.
AFM - I'm on day 15 of cycle and had 2 BT's already, i'm still nowhere near ovulating, which i knew would be the case as it was a very long cycle last time i came off a stim cycle. I was asked if i would consider taking the cycle off but i have mentally prepared myself for it now and i don't mind the BT's. Will keep you posted but looking like FET will still be a couple of weeks away!
PS - How do i stop getting emails everytime someone posts something in the thread, i have looked everywhere! It is probablt staring me in the face
Hi all!
I've been busy in the real world and not much time for posting.
Lairdoz I think some blokes have a really, errm, unhelpful way of dealing with emotional issues. They seem to think if they just pretend it's not happening, or that it doesn't mean anything, then it'll be ok. I guess it's one method of self preservation - personally I don't think it's very effective, and it's certainly not much good for their partners!
mum2be, I'm sorry it's not out and out good news... still though
Loops - all i can say is geez....
Renee - go to User Profile. Scroll down the left-hand-side menu to Edit Options. Then scroll down to Default Thread Subscription Mode - there's a drop down menu next to it where you can select No Email Notification (amongst other selections). let me know if you stil have any issues
petta!
My clinic will not consider putting two back unless you've had at least a few failed transfers and/or you're already approaching 40. I was looking at some statistics, and for women under the age of 35, the risk of a twin pregnancy if 2 embies are put back is about 53% or something!
Aaaand, boy there are a lot of people in here now. Sorry I'm doing doing all the persies . to everyone cycling at the moment. Hope this is the one.
Thanks guys yeah the reason I ask if it will hurt is because when I had my dye test last year I was in excrutating pain and one of my tubes clamped down so I don't want that to happen with the transfer otherwise it will be a wasted effort.
Wow everyone seems to be going through a rough trot atm. I think i need to think myself lucky I have a dh who is super supportive and seems to understand. In saying that though he comes with me to every procedure and app so maybe that helps maybe it's the knowledge and seeing what you have to go through. It would suck not having the support you really need.
Loops: I am waiting with baited breath to see what your results are on monday/tuesday. MAybe ring them monday morning and see if they have the results in yet they should do being over a weekend even if it wasn't urgent.
My opinion on the two emby transfers is that if you sit down with your significant other and discuss and are ok with the idea of a possible twin then go ahead and do two gives you twice the chance of at least one taking and if you get two then bonus. But I think it is something that needs to be discussed with partner and FS.
Goodluck everyone who is cycling or in the tww would be nice to see some BFP's and say goodbye to some people in a good way lol. HUgs everyone.
