Trishy - FX you can get a baby sitter. Do you have family or friends close by? I can't help you with your trigger question. I haven't gotten that far as yet.
Hey Trishy I was crampy after my trigger too - like within a couple of minutes, right up until now. Had my egg collection yesterday so I am still bloated and sore - seems like this is gonna be how it is for a while!
Good luck for your egg collection, really hope it goes well. What a stress having to think about babysitting on top of everything else - my clinic doesn't let anyone bring children even to their tests/scans etc and I often wonder how people manage who have kids! Hope you've been able to call in some favours and it's all sorted now.
my egg collection went well - much better than I expected, my laparoscopy last year was much more traumatic with the general and bad pain afterwards. I am fine now, they said 4 excellent looking eggs so they stopped collecting (we only wanted to use 4) but it did hurt a bit at first until the pethadeine kicked in! It was an issue that so many of hte follies were smaller due to be being only on mild stim, so thankful they had enough of the big ones.
After the first bit of pain I don't remember anything including the whole part where they showed us things on the screen - just as well DH was there but he was so surprised that I have amnesia for like the whole thing. I thought it was only a few mins in there and it was actually like 45min! Apparently I was so sedated I wasn't breathing much so the nurse was trying to wake me up by talking to me and I remember I started going on (half teasing DH) about how DH is really squeamish about medical things and was he looking okay, how he can't even watch House on telly and might need to leave at some point. Then the nurse started getting worried and saying oh maybe he should leave! I was like 'oh no does he look green then? is he ok?' (stressed now) and nurse didn't say he looked okay and started telling a story about a husband who fainted and broke his nose... by now I was really worried! DH said afterwards he was mortified and didn't know how to explain to them that he was quite okay and that I was being a bit squiffy on the drugs.
Ringing for my results at 3pm today... so nervous!!! If there's only one fertilised they planning to do a day 2 transfer (tomorrow) or if more, day 5. I was reading more about how 50% of embryos that look okay at day 2 still have genetic problems, so if you do day 2 transfer it's much more likely to fail. As you can see I am prone to overthink, wish DH was here for this!

(my very first cycle of IVF, me 34 DH 27, unexplained)
hey all i hope you are all doing ok. i have a question.does anyone know if a nk cell blood test can be organized by gp or is it only through FS. havent got another FS planned for a while yet but when i got results of my lap gynae said it is possible with my long cycles that i would probably have nk cells but that they couldnt do a biopsy for it publicly so i thought maybe if a got blood test done first and then went from there depending on results we might know more before startng ivf. and my cycle is still even more screwed up for about a year my cycle has usually been about 8 weeks, last cycle was 6 weeks.now this one i had spotting for a couple days around cd29 now four weeks later when af should be rearing her ugley head i have heavier spotting than last time but not heavy enough for af.hpt are neg.got a gp appointment on monday to try and figure it out
trubabe sorry cant help you with that one, this bing my 1st cycle and all.
Saraz I over think too, so you are experiecing cramping too. DP is on holidays this week, starts a new job next week so we went out for lunch and I was cramping so bad i was convinced the trigger worked too soon or something. I am so excited for you that you gote the 4 good size eggs you wanted. Sounds like the nurse you had was good and treated you well, after I read your other post about your experiences I am glad you got someone like her.
We sorted out babysitter kind of, but means DP cant stay with me after he has given sample, he need to rush home and get daughter and drive back and get me, pain in the butt.
My fs is doing a 5 day transfer, so my transfer is on Wed.
Hope you got excellent results.
Porsche inlaws live close, but they are the ones who cancelled on me. But FIL spat it at his wife so they will watch C but DP has to be back home by 9:15 to get C and drive back and get me, pain in the arse.
gday girls just a quick one bt results came back today all super hormones have flatlined which is perfect so just had injection no.1 at least this rund I know what to expect this time though instead of puregon 300iu i am on 900iu @50iu per night i have another bt on monday then u/s on friday and then should be insemination on the 12th it's come round so quick woohoo hope the tww goes just as quick hugs everyone gl and hope to see more bfp's in here
Hi everyone
My transfer is tomorrow - I'm excited, but trying not to be if that makes sense? I'm feeling good about it, but don't want a big let down later... I wish these things came with guarantees!
Saraz your collection story made me smile - I don't remember anything of mine, but before I went in for my first, one of the nurses was telling me how some people kept talking throughout - that worried me more than anything else that day I'm sure if I was talking it would be pretty random!
Glad it went well for you - hope they are all progressing nicely!
Trishy - hope everything goes smoothly for you - and I hope your inlaws have a good excuse!
Trueblue - it's a good feeling when things are happening - isn't it funny to be happy to be having shots!
I thought when you went in for the egg collection you were knocked out completely? So they only give you a sedative? I'm freaking out a bit now. I guess they probably hear all sorts of things from their patients tho. It probably gives them entertainment for the day! Good luck to all of you. I have another month of being on the pill before i start my cycle.
Maria- thanks for asking after me. We had 3 out of 4 fertilise, which I was really happy with! They want to do a day 5 transfer on monday as they closed over the weekend. so now of course i am stressing about survival rates - I am reading that usually only 50% or less survive to day 5 is that correct? cutting it fine... And is it true that blastocysts dont thaw as well?
Who knows what else i might have said in there that dh hasn't told me! I think it is a choice to have a general but that really knocks you around (when I had one for my laparoscopy i was really sick after) and the sedatives were so lovely i really didn't know what was going on let alone stress about it. But i still knew dh was there patting my head so best of both worlds.
Kass - i so know what you mean about not getting excited - dh came home with flowers and celebration cake tonight and I was in 2 minds cos we have to stay realistic, 3 is not that many! On the other hand it's great news for us that we don't seem to have fertilisation issues, so even if this cycle doesn't work out we have better hopes of trying again. And it's the first ever time our dna's have met that we know of, so magical and special.
trishy - what a day for your dh, hope he doesn't get stage fright! And a new job as well, pressure much! sending good wishes it all goes perfectly.
trublue - sounds like things are going great and you have a really positive attitude which is more than i can say for how I was at your stage, I was a hormonal mess!
truebabe- sorry no idea about nk cells. Really hope they figure it out.
Saraz 3 out of 4 is great - it's true that not all embies make it to day 5, but the ones that do should be pretty strong - hopefully you'll be extra lucky and they all will. I got 4/5 this time. I actually thought 5 days had a better rate than 3? Sounds like you've had a nice night - it is a really special time - I've got fx for you!
Marie - Sorry! Didn't intend to worry anyone! I was knocked out and I choose to believe nothing was said
Just to let everyone know, I'm on holidays (one of the perks of being a teacher!) therefore i have too much time on my hands and can't help going back to this site when i really should be planning for next term! So if anyone wants anything googled, let me know and i would be happy to have an excuse to stay on the net all day. Dr Phil isn't that exciting this week and the midday movies are catered for kids, being the holidays. I'm so bored!
So Sara, I have been googling blastocyst tranfers (only from what appears to be genuine medical sites) and i have some good news! Apparently only the strongest embryos will survive to day 5 which means that even if one embryo only survives to day 5, it has a greater chance of implanting and becoming a bub. One site even had a picture of a 5 day old blast with a picture beside it nine months later as a baby boy. I know its easier said than done but have hope.
Just a question for everyone out there. I am currently living in my DH's small town of where he grew up and knows everyone. I only have his friends wives as friends at the mo and every single one of them is either pregnant or has just had their baby. I find it really awkward at get togethers when every conversation is about teething, pooing, or general baby ga ga. I know they would never mean to upset me and i dont mean to offend anyone here with kids but how do i get them to change the conversation? I know it sounds stupid but every time they start talking i just feel like an absolute outsider with nothing to add to the conversation.
Saraz: Being our second time and not having to have anything else this time other then the puregon jabs it's alot less emotional and stressful it's just sort of happeninggive it a few days for the puregon to kick in and I'll probably be singing a different tune lol
MArie: That situation would suck feeling like you have nothing to contribute to conversations my little sister had the problem in the opposite she was the only one out of all the women she knew that was a mum and a young mum at 19 so noone understood her or why she couldn't come out at the drop of a hat. Maybe you could drill them on questions about pregnancy lol I do I am fascinated on how different everyone is and whats stage they are at

I am still running around like a chook at work and can't get on the computer at home at the moment as I am renovating the lounge.
So a real quick post today.
Welcome to all the Newbies. Hope your stay here is short and sweet. Congrats to the lucky ladies with BFP's. Enjoy the next 8 mths as you deserve it
Loops - you really can't stay away can you. lol. Thats ok I for one enjoy having you around.
Christie J - as I understand it there is no set day the do egg collection it all has to do with follicle size and estrogen numbers. I am on my first stim cycle and this is what my nurse is telling me.
AFM - Feeling like a pin cushion. I am getting used to the needles now. Never thought I would ever say that!!!! They have uped mt puregon dose to 200iu as my estrogen is being really sluggish. Am feeling so bloated that I have had to undo my button on my trousers today. Have a BT tomorrow to how everything is traveling and see when I can have a scan.
