My first cycle....I need all the luck I can get

    Hey girls
This is my very first IVF cycle ever. I have done 5 rounds of clomid previously, obviously with no sucess.
I took my very first dose of Syneral this morning (ugh that stuff leaves a yucky taste/feeling in the back of the throat)
Praying the s/e arn't to severe....will keep you posted as to the rest of the journey, anyone else on thier first ever cycle this month?

Good luck. Hope this cycle is the one for you

Yes the Synarel is gross. I used to think it was kind of like what shower cleaner smelt like running down the back of your throat gross

    Hi Tracy

I am only new to IVF. I am in the middle of my first cycle. Luckily I didn't have to sniff. I am hopeless with any form of medication!

I am doing an antagonist cycle through Monash Richmond. I started injection Gonal F daily for seven days, on the last four days I had to inject Orgalatrun also. I had my egg pick up on Monday. They got 30 eggs. Of those 30, 14 were mature and 13 fertilised over night. My FS has recommended ICSI due to my husband's sperm problem and we are doing 5 day blastocyst. So I am due for my transfer this saturday. Only two more sleeps! Can't wait.

Do you know when you start the injections. I thought I would be hopeless with them. They were not bad at all. My DH refused to do them as he has a fear of needles!! I actually missed it on my first day off!! haha

I am only new to all this, but if you have any questions, just ask!

    Good luck with the sniffing!!

wow good luck Amy. I start injections the day after AF starts, which for me could be anytime
Im not scared of the injections, Im a nurse and inject other ppl everyday lol. Im sure it will be wierd the first couple times, but Im sure I will cope ok
We are having ICSI also. Dh had a vas reversal in March 3 years ago and we have been trying ever since. His swimmers arnt what they should be, but FS was sure it would work.......clearly not and getting to here seems to have taken almost forever

    my 1st too

    Hi ladies
I'm on my 1st IVF cycle too. (Monash Richmond). I had blast transfer on Mon and am going crazy, not handling it very well. I swear I felt a couple of period pains today and tonight i have felt sharp pains that last for a sec or 2 - so am not very confident at all. Starting to become depressed actually. I had 8ggs, 5 fertilized, 3 went to blast, 1 transfered and 2 frozen.

Iam so anixous, I am beside myself with this waiting.

The whole process wasnt as bad as I had thought. I didnt do the spray either.

I hope this is our month girls

ps - my breasts are very sore - i think it is because of the progestorone, which i better go take now.

    Hi girls

Tracy - I hope you period comes soon! Well my husband has a blockage, so he had to have a testicular biopsy. All went well and they even managed to freeze a straw of his sperm just in case we need to do another full cycle.

Toby - Who are you seeing? I am seeing Lynn Burmeister and find her fantastic even though she wasn't at the EPU or ET. I am that your period doesn't come (at least for another year!). I have been getting period pains since my EPU (and its not due until the 26th Aug), so hopefully it just has something to do with the drugs. My breasts are sore too, it must be the Crinone!!

I just had my ET this morning. They put back one blasty. It was really painfree which I was not expecting! Of the 13 embies, 2 have slowed down, they transferred one and they are waiting until tomorrow to freeze the others. So I won't find out how many frosties we have until Monday. My blood test is on the 26th Aug, so at least I don't have a full 2WW.

Good luck to both of you and I hope that we are all successful first go!!

    Have a good weekend!

Amy - Hope you don't mind me asking, but we're looking at IVF later this year/early next year and were just wondering why you didn't need to sniff. In our appt with the IVF nurse, we were told we could sniff or inject. Did you inject instead? And why did you choose that over sniffing?

Tracy - How are those s/e with the synarel? Are they bad enough to recommend me doing the injections instead?

Good luck with your first cycle ladies - I will be waiting and that you all have a good outcome.

we didnt get a choice about it. I have to use Synarel, unti til told to stop from day 21. Then I start injections from CD 2

S/E so far other than the yucky taste/feeling in the back of the throat for about 15 minutes afterwards nothing noticable yet

Thanks Loula, I will join the 2WW support thread.

JLeigh29 - of course I don't mind you asking. We are all here to help everyone! I didn't really get the option. My periods are very regular, every 28 days and I ovulate around day 14, so since I had no problem there, I guess my FS decided that I could just do a short antagonist cycle. I am not sure if the Gonal F injections are the same as the Syranal? I don't think so. My cycle was so quick and easy, I could not believe it. I was never moody or down and I didn't get any side effects other than feeling bloated. I believe the Gonal injections were to produce the eggs, and then I had the Orgalatrun injections to prevent the eggs releasing prematurely. Then I had the trigger injection and 36 hours later had the egg collection. Any other questions, just ask!

Toby - when are you due for your blood test? for a positive for you!

Have a great Sunday, its so windy out there, so I think I will stay inside where its warm!!

    Afternoon Ladies,

I too am also just starting my first IVF ICSI cycle. DH and I are currently going through Dr Lok at SIVF. They have been fantastic so far.
Anyway, started on 10units of Lucrin injections last Thursday. Was quite surprised with myself that I was able to do them. Was a bit worried to begin with. So moving on, took my last pill on Sat night and now just waiting for my monthly friends to arrive. Have a BT all set for this Thursday and have been told by the IVF nurse that all going well, will start my FSH injections on Saturday .
Just a bit more about us, as well as the ICSI and the IVF were also doing PGD. My husband has a genetic condition and so we were able to be provided with the option to make him the only one in the family with it. We started our whole IVF adventure just a little over 12mths ago now and now its time for all the great exciting things.
Hope we can all support each other on here. Will definately need it. Am kind of stressing a little too because I know im taking the injections but aren't really feeling anything other than a slight sore head. Is this normal I wonder??
Look forward to hearing about all of your experiences and tips
