i had a Lap/HSG on about day 19 of my cycle, i usually ovulate around day 22-23. My cycle was only about a day or 2 out of wack.
Although, in my case i think it is a lil different cause i ovulated on pretty much every one of my cycles
Hi everyone!
I'm taking Metformin and ovulated for the very first timeabout 5 weeks ago. I attributed this to the Metformin- perhaps incorrectly? I was hoping that I would start to resume some sort of cycle after this.
Anyway, I had a lap to remove an ovarian dermoid 2 weeks ago. While necessary, it's a pain because now I don't know if I haven't ovulated because of the surgery or that my last ovulation was a fluke.
My gyno said that surgery to the ovary often stimulates ovulation but so far nothing.
Am I expecting too much, too soon? Has anyone had ovarian surgery and not had it interfere with your cycle?
Thanks![]()

HSG is to check for blocked tubes right?
This might be wishful thinking but I'm hoping that I'm out of whack because of the fact that my ovary was 'attacked'and it will VERY SOON recover and produce the right hormones to ovulate again.

Yep, HSG is where they flush a dye thru the tubes...
I hope your right!!
Hi,
I had a lap and ovarian cyst removed about mid cycle, i ovulated as normal from the next cycle on. Hope it's the same for you.
The only bad part about the whole experience was the gas that they use to pump your stomach up. My shoulders ached for days after. He he. It's all worth it i guess!
Good luck.
Thanks sarey,
The shoulder tip pain was pretty mild for me luckily. I just felt flat for a while and felt like I had done a trillion sit ups!
When you say all was normal the cycle after that- how long until that new cycle started? I was CD8 when I had the op and am now CD24 and waiting for something to happen.
Thanks!![]()
Peekay - I had my lap on about CD10 I think... and found that I O'ed about CD 18, so had a slightly longer cycle than usual, but it was back to absolutely normal the next cycle. I had endo/adhesions removed and felt quite sore for a few days post op though. So I can't say for sure how ovarian interruption would affect things.
I do hope they warned you about AF being a true horror the first one post surgery. All the women I have heard from, including myself, have corroborated the misery of this event.
Hope things even out very soon for you.
