Unhappy iui's & ivf failed. will FET work any better?

    hi,

brief history of myself and ttc.
i have a 3.5 yr old dd. she was concieved naturally after a lap to remove eno and polyps.
we have now been ttc since june 06. since then i have had another lap for large choc cyst, 4 months natural clomid trying, 4 iui's, and now i x IVF (2 embies transfered at 4 cell stage) that turned out to be a chemical pregnancy. i have 4 frozen embies waiting.
in this time i have seen a naturapath, had acupuncture, quit my job and done chinese herbal medicine.
i am now trying to loose weight (15kgs to be BMI of 20-25 ) and am hoping this helps. when i concieved my dd i was 70kg and now am 85kg.
my question to you all is???
has anyone lost weight and become pregnant or has anyway become pregnant with a FET after having failed IUI and IVF treatments.

i will appreciate any advice or helpful stories of success.
    thanks

    michelle

michelle - i had two FET's earlier this year - one was a BFN, the other, with "weaker" embryo's, was a BFP but unfortunately i lost that pregnancy as well.

it's not easy to face another cycle when you're feeling like the odds are stacked against you, but i just want to let you know it can and does work! there are lots of FET bubba's on BB!

    thinking of you

I'm not sure if I qualify but I have PCOS and used Metformin to conceive my 2 DD's.

After my second DD was born I started looking after my weight and managed to go from 100kg's to 70kg's. As soon as I hit 70kg's my goal was to TTC #3............It took 4 months!!!

This is now my 5th pregnancy, I fell pregnant naturally in 2003 and 2004 before I realised I had PCOS but had 2 m/c. This baby in my tum was conceived naturally as I managed to lose the weight

I'm not sure if it means anything but I think weight really can affect your fertility.

    Best of luck to you,

    Cheers,

    hi,
thanks BG. you are a great help! i have the fear that they have used the two best embies this first time. i can't remember the quality of the other 4. it just dosen't seem like i have so many chances left with only 4 frozen. how many do you have transfered each time? i had two and thought i would get one from that for sure...i am becoming more positive each day. i am going to throw all my thoughts into loosing weight instead of ttc.

thanks to you also kimnastics for your thoughts and story. i am sure there are lots of people that have success with FETs. i live in Cairns and i only know of one person who has had IVF. she has two kids and both were concieved with fresh cycles. it is so hard to find women that understand what ttc is like. the next person that tells me too relax and it will happen will be getting a punch in the nose!...

Aphrael- wow!! you give me HOPE! i can't believe it can be as easy as loosing weight. Now tell me. how do a loose it ??hahahaha i went out last thursday (ivf BFN on wed!) and joined Tony Ferguson. i have cut everything that contains sugar especially carbs.i am going to exercise everyday. what else can you do? what is your secret? i really do agree with you that it can sometimes come down to weight. i only wish my FS would have told me to do something about it sooner. everyone is just far too polite. i just needed a kick in the bum ( big one at that!) to get me started.hahahaha.

    thanks everyone...

Glad it has given you hope, all I really did was watch what I ate and included exercise into my routine. Find an exercise you enjoy and go with it, mine is an exercise bike (because I can read my book and ride too lol) but if you can find something that interests you then do it as much as you can!

After a while exercising becomes a habit and honestly I feel awful if I dont do it!

Best of luck and I really hope you fall pg soon!!!

    Cheers,

    hi,

i have had four embies frozen, and now used all of them as we were transferring two at a time. it's funny, my FS told me the first FET, based on what they could see of the embryo's, should have been the one we had success. the second, they put back the "runt" which was significantly smaller, and we got a BFP! it's all based on guess work, and statistics of what chances an embryo at that stage of development has of making it.

from what i can gather, if an embie survives the thaw, it is already showing that it is a strong embryo. so far we've been lucky to have a 100% thaw rate, so i feel the quality of our embies is good, we just need to get the hormonal stuff worked out so that they can stick properly!

be careful with tony ferguson (or any of those meal replacement diets) - i believe they're no good when pregnant, so unless you're taking time out from TTC, it might not be wise to be on it... i have contemplated TF in the past, but i'm pretty sure i read that they were no good, so i'd be stop-start dieting, and i figured lifestyle change was a better option

ETA - just cheked FAQ's on TF website, and it said it was no good during pg and breast feeding, so definitely take that into account - you're essentially going to have to stop it when you're going through another cycle...

    thanks BG,

i had and have considered dieting while ttc. and i too stop start. which get's you know where.
I went and joined TF the day after i found out IVF didn't work. i was soooo angry with my body letting me and DH down again....
i will be having a few months off before TTC again so i have thought about talking the shakes on a casual basis. i will have them ever alternate breakfast and lunch. i tried doing it the proper way on Friday but i was sooo hungry.
i don't won't to starve myself, so i will monitor my food intake and exercise everyday.

Aphrael said she lost her weight by eating right and exercising. so i think that is the best way to go. it is surely the healthiest way.

QFG has a psychologist which is free with your treatment. i am going to see her in the morning. I have never seen anyone like this before. I am sure she will able to help. i think for my first ivf i was just too sure it would work. you have to be positive but then the fall is so much higher.

i am off to NZ on thurs for a hol with my DH and DD. it is her first OS hol and is sooo looking forward to it. 10 days cruising around the countryside will surley do me some good.
    thanks girls
good luck with all you TTC
