    New to TTC

    Hi,

Forgive me but I am new to this, but am hoping to hear from others going through the same. I have just had my second u/s in 4 days after first cycle of clomid (25mg 2 - 6) only to find out that possible follicle from day 10 is no longer viable at day 14. So am now increasing to 50mg for next cycle.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in May 07, but have had idea of this for approx 7/8 yrs. But of course, nothing is done until TTC. Now because I'm 34 (35 just around corner) and have hereditary problems to deal with, primarily early menopause I am now taking clomid to hopefully O and if nothing of success within next 6 mths then probably onto IVF.

I have read some of the earlier posts and at least am now aware that the rise in my body temperature (night sweats) appear to be normal, so am not looking forward to this continuing especially with summer coming.

Anyway, I am now to increase dosage of clomid to 50mg 2 - 6 for the second cycle to see if this will make O occur. Fingers crossed.

Hi all, just an update... On 75mg clomid I got two perfect follies, both 19mm on Mondays scan, and my lining is 10mm. I'm so happy! So I had the HCG trigger, and IUI yesterday :-) Good luck everyone on clomid and/or metformin! Hope we all don't have to use it again!

    that's great Alisia, good luck!

I'm back on the clomid train again this month and have a question for everyone. Is anyone getting terrible headaches from it? I'm on third day of taking them and I realise I've got the same headache as last cycle - it goes right across the top of my head and feels like my brain is going to burst out through my skull. Would be interested to know if anyone else is getting headaches, otherwise I'll have to waste some time websurfing and dxing myself with something terrible

    Hi to everyone new.

Emmalina..... ah yes, the clomid headaches.... I get them from the morning after I take the first dose, and they last 5 days, Very frustrating, but also very common side effect of clomid, so don't worry too much. I also got a migraine the first cycle I used it *ouch*

    Hi Emmalina

Yes I used to get the headaches and also hot flushes. Its a common side effect. How many MG are you taking? I was on 50g.

Thanks for the welcome. I really appreciate it as its really hard for us TTC and would like to be part of this group again. I actually suggested to BB to start the Clomid/Metformin thread so im so happy to be back here again to share with you all.

I am scared of miscarrying again as I am on antidepressants for post natal depression and at this stage my OB wont put me on Clomid as it may make me worse so thats why we are starting with Metformin and hopefully I can go off my antidepressants at some stage.

Just wondering anyone here taking Clomid with anti-depressants and had any experience? My OB says that Clomid may cause mood changes so thats why shes hesitant for me as I am already an overanxious person.

Look forward to getting to know u all.

Leasha - I just read your post about this cycle being on 75mg of Clomid and then you will take a break from TTC, fingers crossed for you it works for you this cycle hon. I was on my 4th cycle of Clomid and if the 4th cycle didnt work our next month was to start IVF and thankfully we did concieve! So fingers crossed this cycle is it for you

What days are you taking Clomid? I took it from day 2 to 6 as my cycles were so irregular and I didnt ovulate much at all. With taking it I tended to ovulate anywhere from day 17 to day 21...and ended up having a short LP....so wondering cause im new here, what day are you ovulating now with Clomid?

My first two cycles I took 25mg day 2-6, and ovulated day 15 both times. Third cycle was 50mg, and no ovulation (got a cyst). This cycle is 75mg day 4-8, and I ovulated yesterday, CD18. So about 10 days after the last dose... I have PCOS and wasn't ovulating at all without Clomid.

I am having problems with Clomid and depression. Since I started it has gradually been getting worse and worse, which is why we are having a break...because some of the things I'm thinking..... well, I don't know how much longer I can be on Clomid for before I go certifiably insane to be honest. I am seeing a counsellor who suggested anti-depressants while we are on the break. I hope we don't have to have a break, but am worried about if I do get pregnant, and not being able to manage the depression very well... Do you worry about that?

EDIT: Well, at least, I THINK I ovulated yesterday, I am just going by the temp rise this morning, but then again, last cycles I thought I ovulated, and didn't so.... I dunno... we'll see I guess.

    Hi Ladies,

Thought I'd join in...I'm currently in my TTW from my first cycle of Clomid. Has anyone had side effects from Clomid such as headaches, nausea straight after ovulation but at no other stage of the cycle??

Leasha - I totally understand what you are going through. Honestly the Clomid could be causing you to have these thoughts and mood changes, thats what my OB/GYNO said to me on Tuesday thats why shes hesitant to put me back on them. I too have PCOS. I have PND/anxiety and mild OCD...and am seeing a therapist who has been wonderful with behavioural therapy which includes breathing techniques when anxious and relaxation CD's etc, which is really good if you dont feel like you want to take anti-depressants. I do both at the moment. Im on Ciprimil which is ok during pregnancy apparently and ok if taking Clomid. Yes I do worry about it getting pregnant and not being able to cope, my OB said taking the Ciprimil will be ok in first and 2nd Trimester but im not sure I want to. If you want to discuss in more detail happy to chat to you via pm or email...its taken me 6 months from saying I dont want another child because I dont want to go through the depression again to wanting to try again which is a good sign for us that im slowly on the mend hopefully.

Hi ladies, have been popping in and out of this thread over the last week. I'm on my first clomid cycle, 50mg days 5 - 9, and i def. felt not myself for a few days - although have had other stresses on my plate also... started a new job, had a skin cancer removed (then passed out!), left my job after 3 days due to another staff member constantly reprimanding me, which i thought was totally unprofessional..... so you could say i'm ready for things to start looking up!!
today is cd 13, so will be interesting to see when i ovulate - if there will be any changes due to the clomid?. I have a very regular cycle, i'm pretty certain i ovulate every month (going by my temps), and always around day 15...... so i'll be dragging DH to the bedroom over the next few days and fingers crossed! Having some acupuncture this afternoon, so maybe the two combined will help us out.
Best wishes to you all, and lets hope for some BFP's.

    Hi Bel,

I'm on 50mg, day 9 today so last dose tonight. Honestly, the headache is unbelievable and it's not going away. I'm a bit of a hypochondriac so thank god it's the last dose hopefully the headache will go away in a couple of days and I can stop thinking I've got a brain tumour.

Am following the depression discussion with interest, I was lucky enough not to have PND (not that I wasn't a bit 'wobbly' in the first month) and it's been over ten years since I was last medicated for depression, but I've got to say, last month's Clomid cycle felt like I was going right back there, and beyond. So I can see why you would be worried about it if you are currently struggling with depression.

My strategy this month is to use some of my annual leave for days 24 - 29 of my cycle so that at the very least I can go insane at home instead of at work!

    Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps

    Hi Ladies,

Thought I'd quickly post. AF is due this weekend and I am currently 7dpo - and I just got a (very very) faint positive. Keeping in mind it is 4pm, so I didn't use FMU - but I am keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow morning when I test again!

Hoping and praying this is it, I had a shower this afternoon and got out and the veins on my BBs had darkened considerably in 20 minutes?? Hoping this all isn't just in my head

Ohhh EMS!!! Congrats on the faint positive!!!! Fingers crossed for tomorrow morning!!! Shall come in to see how you go!

Therese - fingers crossed you ovulate around day 15 and have sucess!

Leasha - How ru feeling? are you ok?

Emmalina - I know what you mean re the headaches and fuzziness from the Clomid, I remember them all too well, I had shockers of them especially in the heat of summer. Its all worth it in the end just keep thinking that. Taking leave is a great idea! really good to relax too. I did a day depression program at a private hospital which was really good it was group therapy and it was really interesting to see how other people deal with panic attacks when the depression sets in. I learnt some really good techniques just have to remember to put them in place when needed sometimes anxiousness takes over if you know what I mean. The best thing I learnt was to make sure I do 1 thing a day for me, whether it be really small or bigger, it always makes me happy, it helped me slide out of the dark place. I honestly have to get cracking on the exercise cause apparently that helps so much too the endorphins, i hate exercise. Metformin is going well would you believe no side effects! Hope the headache goes away soon...

Ohh - forgot to add, I should be testing, im too scared too...but if I cave whats the best test? I used to use Discover one step that worked for me in past, FMU doesnt seem to like me but wondering if anyone else has favourite tests?

Hello to everyone else I havent met or caught up with, I hope you are all going well.

Yay Emma on the faint positive! How exciting for you, fingers crossed.... i can't wait until i have that moment!
Well, it's cd 18 today, and my temp has finally risen this morning, to 36.95, so i'm assuming i've ovulated in the previous 24hrs. Prior to this my temp was hovering around 36.7.... I laughed this morning with the rise in temp, as DH is really exhausted at the moment, but i looked at him and said.... temps up baby, lets go!! Sorry if tmi Bless him.

Belle - i love your tip on doing 1 thing each day for you, no matter how big or small... i think i will take that one on board, it's a great thing to do.

    Hope all are well xx

Well girls, should I test?? im not sure maybe will wait until the weekend and see what happens. Since we only DTD twice this month around ovulation im not sure if it will work as I hadnt started taking Metformin yet, and we never were successful at all concieving naturally...
