Your successful IUI cycle

I had five mature follies around the 19-22mm range when we triggered. We conceived twins but only one gestational sac had a heartbeat at the 7 week scan. It was a calculated gamble to trigger with so many follies as I had had bad results on two previous PGD/IVF cycles with only two genetically okay embies out of 22 fertilised embies, so our FS gambled that even with 5 follies we would be lucky to get one good one and he was right as it turns out! Wow! Our FS cancels at 4... my old FS cancelled at 3. But under the circumstances I probably would have gone ahead with 5 as well.

So... because we had a m/c with an IUI, I think IVF is off the table for us, since we know IUI technically works, we just need the baby to stick. Is that how you guys think? Just keep plugging away at IUI until it happens?

I wonder that too. IUI better work for us because we sure can't afford IVF. Maybe it's because time is ticking and they don't want to waste any more of it? I dropped DH sample off yesterday. While I was waiting I saw the fees on the wall behind the desk, $208 for the SA!! The BT I had last week will be billed to me as well as the SA and more BT for DH. Their website says a complete IUI cycle will cost us $600. I wonder if that's including the BT and SA? Doubt it

Holy Cow! Your GP can bulk bill all of those tests O.o.

We already had BT and SA from GP and OB/GYN, but they were just Melbourne Pathology tested. Some of the BT are different this time and the SA is more thoroughly tested. I can get medicare rebate for most, but only about 1/3 of it back. So the initial consult was $200 and I can claim $76 back and the SA i can claim about $80, I think. I may as well just save up all my receipts until we are finished!

I am 11weeks with my first IUI (after countless ovulation inductions - one cancelled because I had three follicles and my last pregnancy was two follicles and was twins for 14 weeks)

I had two follicles of about 20mm
Only one conceived (I would have stressed too much with another twin pregnancy)

I always trigger because I have no pituitary gland so my body can't grow eggs or ovulate by itself.

After so so many tries of OI I couldn't believe it worked first time.

Oh and my costs were-
$150 for the lab to get the sperm ready (I got some back Medicare)
$900 for my fertility specialist including ALL scans, appointments and injections (also got some back from Medicare)
My doc is a little more expensive than some but she is one of the best.

Hi Duchess congrats on your pregnancy!! We are going to start off with iui so reading that you got a positive result first go is comforting.
So it only cost you $1050 for iui? Is that your out of pocket expense?
